Mainstream white media blew that story up; the black folks I know (myself included) thought the story was either bizarre, hilarious or both. Most of the articles I recall seeing on Black media outlets were more comedicly inclined like this article: Why I Miss Rachel Dolezal. Rih isn't in danger of backlash/getting dragged over that, IMO.

Nah, many black people are gonna fume over this. I'm with you. When the #transRachel story came out, me and mine had a good chuckle and kept it moving, but the story was all over the black interwebs and pretty inescapable, sort of like when the "I hate Iggy" bandwagon really started picking up steam. Even Melissa Harry Perry was wondering if she should be mad and if being trans-racial was a "thing." I get how Rachel's act could be interpreted as blackface. I get the politics behind it, I really do, but she just seemed to not be worth the outrage, especially since she didn't have a national platform prior to her being outed. And when you consider that the number of white passing blacks is probably about as negligible as the Rachel Dolezals of the world, then you just start to feel like there are bigger fish to fry.
She's done some other dumb things which don't warrant Rih calling her a hero. Her Howard U. lawsuit. I understand she's plagiarized artwork, but we can only get but so upset about the artistic theft, what with our being fans of Rih and Bey.
