Her old songs won't carry her forever, and none of her news songs have had any sort of impact on her career. Her lead single underperformed, her follow up underperformed, her album sales are low, etc.

WHY would anyone want to release BTW, Katy included? It was negatively received MUSICALLY by the public and image-wise.

If Katy doesn't enjoy that type of music why would she make it, especially knowing that the public is not here for it?

Public likes change. The public does NOT like dramatic change. Gaga's biggest hits were regular pop hits, but now she's trying too hard to be "taken serious" but the opposite has happened. No one is taking her seriously.

No one is saying Gaga's old music isn't remembered, but when you mention her the first thing that comes to people's mind is most definitely not her music.

And who cares about some fashion award? The public hardly gives two craps about fashion awards.

Gaga wrote BTW because she loves her fans and as we all see she is an activist and fights for gay rights. When she got so big she wanted to spread the message. And well received or not, it still sold 8-8.5M WW and spent 6 weeks at #1.

Her music was big, but the videos made the songs even bigger hits. And the fashion in her videos were crazy. Even if you dress like an idiot, if your music sucks you wont sell 25M albums just like that. I have never denied that fashion was not important part in to Gaga's rise. A bug part of her fame layson her crazy outfits.

And just to make that clear, if I wanted headlines and fake bubblegum relevancy, pop music is giving me plenty of options to choose from. I stan for Christina, a woman who only got negative headlines and negative relevancy for 3 years (2010-2013). And most of the artists in my sig are not bubblegum either. So I don't get your point.

Relevancy =/= talent. Had you doubted her talent, I would have come up with a much different response. But given it took you 3 pages to actually deal with my main point, I don't think selecting the right response depending on the other's statement is your main talent.

There are just TWO simple facts needed to answer this question.

Lady Gaga's career is slipping down a slippery slope (I don't think she's completely done yet) but she's on that slope. She's been on a constant downwards trajectory from the start of her career.

Katy had a modest start to her career, and she has just grown exponentially in terms of selling strength and star-power. And she is showing no signs of slowing down. Uncle, like ToY, was just a bump in the road.

The answer is sitting right in front of you.

THOUGH, I will say this is from a viewpoint of now. Circumstances can totally change, and Katy could pull an ARTPOP next era for whatever reason. However, it looks like she isn't because she has just gained the GP's stronghold this era so far, while BTW alienated the GP.

Katy has a Paula career because they're the same type of artist. You refer to Paula's longevity or whatever but she was a generic hitmaker for years from the late 80s to the early 90s and a very successful one in her time. We can't predict the future but the same could end up being said for Katy Perry.

Gaga has a Madonna career because they're a more similar type of pop artist. They piss people off and they don't adhere to popular trends for the sake of adhering to popular trends. They have high opinions of themselves and what they do and that both burdens and propels them.

To call Katy the new Madonna is simply untrue. Shes literally nothing like her.
