It absolutely did not flop. It's selling consistently. I mean, Loud was a very slow burner but it ended up selling 6 Milli worldwide, we can't count TTT out especially since there's still many opportunities single-wise and promo-wise for a nice sales boost. If it goes on to sell at least 4 million, then I wouldn't consider it a flop or underperformance.
Edit: In the US, she's still Top 5, so I'm hoping that in the longrun she'll get to 1 million.
It hasn't been a majorly impressive success but in no way is it even close to a flop. I honestly don't think Rihanna herself cares that much about sales to be honest anyway. Artists probably make much more money from touring. As long as the fans are loving the music, and people are digging the songs, that's all that matters. She's still incredibly popular.
IMO, if an album sells 500K it didn't flop because album sales in the U.S have really fallen as the digital era is basically in full effect now. If an album manages to sell 1 Million in the U.S I consider that very successful.
Since Talk That Talk most likely will hit 1 Million,,,yes it will be a success and since it has already sold 600K it already is past the flop point. (Under 500K)
Again, I think we are in full digital times now and I know most people won't agree with me here but IMO, Single sales matter more than album sales in today's world. We Found Love was obviously not a flop in anyway so...
For the moment, I'd say it underperformed (in the US, WW it was successful), but I voted successful: "Talk That Talk" and "Where Have You Been" are sure-fire hits, so the album will at least hit Platinum, and get close to Loud 1.6M total.
Much too early to say.
It has done ok so far, no more no less. But there are more singles coming up! In the end it'll pass 1 million.
You need to look at the positions on the chart and longevity, rather than numbers. Adele is at another division right now, not even the same sport. That's how it is .
Well, I think it's too early to call it a flop. But it is definitely under-performing atm. WFL was & is still is huge, and it basically did nothing for the album. Not to mention it came during out the holiday season & Black Friday.
