Same.
I've learned so much that I want to do a psychological research paper with ATRL as the topic.

I chose Entertaining, but Informative would have been my second choice.

Same. Although ATRL is really fast with news, there are other sites that post news as well; however, no other site has the same entertaining atmosphere and community like ATRL. We're truly one of a kind.
If I cared more about charts I probably would have voted for informative. I'm not really bothered by sales and positions, but whenever I ever get curious it's always right there in an easy to follow and convenient format, which is great.

Nnn ATRL is informative, and isn't because of the news threads.

^ I guess that's true for some people.
Question about the update:
Will our postbits still show what scheme we're using? I'd like the ability to hide it without having to use the default.

No shade, but these previews make the current layout look even uglier. Emerald.

Hi. I just did the survey but I accidentally put the wrong answer for the question about how much news I get from this website. I think I put the rarely option when I should have put the option about getting all my news from here.

I'm totally against censorship and stuff but I do use ATRL a lot at work, aka. in the middle of an open plan office, so if anyone's posting pr0n or really graphic stuff than that's really not okay.

The **** is absolutely NOT okay. We have children here and not everyone should be exposed to that
unwillingly, no matter if they have before or not.
The language censorship however, could lighten up a little.

That's why it was moved to the blogs and that's also why there's an option for private blogs. It's not like it wasn't known which blog was for what. If someone ventured in, it was under their own volition.
I do agree on the language part though. That's just ridiculous.

This is suppose to be a site to discuss pop culture though, not share naked pictures and whatnot. ATRL doesn't have to be your one stop shop for everything, there are adult themed forums/sites you can visit for that type of stuff. Allowing NSFW content only 1. shrinks potential demographic and 2. distracts people and encourages them to create threads that don't pertain to pop culture. Restricting it to blogs-only doesn't really help, because anyone can venture off into the blogs or click on one accidentally through The Lounge banners. What's the solution to prevent underage people from seeing that type of content? A warning at the top of the blogs? A permission slip? No, it's just not fair, everyone should be able to visit the blogs without being worried about certain stuff popping up unexpectedly. I wasn't here when blogs were first created, but I'm pretty sure they were made for everyone to enjoy and not just 18+ members browsing late at night.
+ the fact that vulgar and explicit (avs and posts) warnings are still handed out so often proves that a lot of our members are, unfortunately, too immature to handle that type of content.

I know a few doesn't represent everyone, but my point is that, if so many are still posting NSFW material/language, how many are going to join in once it's made acceptable? Even if it's restricted to blogs, or even one certain 18+ blog, you know people are going to ask "why can I do it there but not here and here?" There just isn't any room for it on this forum in my opinion. The staff have done a terrific job straining that type of content out of the forum and hopefully within time everyone will be content and over it. ATRL shouldn't be going backwards with this upgrade, they should move forward and keep making the site more and more accessible and professional.

On a lighter note: I hope the fact that the only "update" we've gotten from Invision in the past month was a video about how to upload header images, and before that it was just a round-up about a feature, means there isn't much left to reveal and the update is coming very, very soon. The end of Q2 is approaching fast!

My thing about it is that, it was here before and maybe I was naive my first couple months being an official member but it didn't seem as if things were that bad or a big deal when it was here. Everyone was happy. People who wanted to post there, posted there and those who didn't stayed away from blogs. People are complaining about underage users seeing it, however, what I have noticed is that it's the underaged users who are the most graphic out of everyone here. So why not give people a place for it Allow it in that one area, like before, and if it's posted anywhere else then it gets warned. This may not explicitly be the place for it, however, there obviously are a lot of members who would like for it to be here in some capacity so I saw give it to them. If it worked out to everyones liking before, why can't it again?

That has never been a problem before people, we had a Dirty Talk thread the sexually-related stuff belonged there.

Anyhow, the only thing I can say is that ATRL should come up with a better way to request extended bans, or permabans.
I know user retention is a concern but the fact that some users feel that the only way to 'delete' your account is to spam **** and adult images across the forum is concerning.
ATRL can be very addicting for some and I think it would be a responsible thing to do to add a request form in preferences or something. Hopefully this can lower the amount of self-destructs via ****ography and help a few people.
|
This. Maybe, if it's possible, you guys can do what Facebook has where you can deactivate your account when you want and log back in to reactivate it, if you choose to do so because I know the mods get bombarded with these requests a lot and it would help prevent things like what happened not too long ago to happen again.
