Mariah Carey is not as established as Britney is worldwide. If we were to judge based on the U.S, maybe it'd be different, but on a worldwide scale, Britney throws Mariah out of the window. It says enough that Britney has sold almost as much records in less than 10 years. Can you imagine had Britney started in 1990? She would have sold over 300 million+ records as of now easily.

Umm, Britney was a few units shy of 150 million records sold before this era began. Mariah is local; 70% of her album and single sales are from the US.
