That isn't an indicator of good writing skills. Taylor is the better songwriter. Songs like Dear John, All Too Well and more on her entire discography prove it. That doesn't mean Katy is bad at it, but unlike Swift, Perry needs like 5 co-writers to finish her songs or what her team brings to her. Didn't Teenage Dream come from Bonnie McKee's thoughts?

But Bad Blood does ape Gwen's cheerleader-esque vocal affect on Hollaback Girl and Blank Space does sound like Lorde, especially with its (warmed over) attempt at Lorde and Joel's signature minimalist production and singsong chorus melody. It's more of a cousin of Team or Glory & Gore than Royals, though.

Not really hearing the other comparisons, though. Taylor's three Max/Shellback songs on Red definitely sounded like Avril, but none of the new ones really do.

I don't really hear the similarities in the vocal melody, but I wasn't replying to that person anyway, so it's moot. The person I was replying to was strictly referring to the production.
