MusicIsGoodForYou's Best of 2008! Top 20 Albums: #3
Hey everyone! Thanks for all of the comments! Today, I will post the #3 album on my chart. I have really liked this artist in the past, but he explored a new genre of music (in the artist's opinion) with his release in 2008. Appearing at 3 for the second year in a row, here is.....:
Recap:
20. Gnarls Barkley - The Odd Couple
19. John Legend - Evolver
18. Tyga - No Introduction
17. Nas -
16. Ne-Yo - Year of the Gentleman
15. David Cook - David Cook
14. The All-American Rejects - When the World Comes Down
13. 3 Doors Down - 3 Doors Down
12. The Killers - Day & Age
11. The Raconteurs - Consolers of the Lonely
10. The Roots - Rising Down
9. Gym Class Heroes - The Quilt
8. Common - Universal Mind Control
7. Fall Out Boy - Folie a Deux
6. Nickelback - Dark Horse
5. Lil Wayne - Tha Carter III
4. T.I. - Paper Trail
3. Kanye West - 808s & Heartbreak

Drive to Buy/Listen to: My liking of Kanye West (with Auto-Tune), and my liking of various songs that were released/leaked before 808s & Heartbreak's release.
Favorite Songs: Robocop, Amazing (feat. Young Jeezy), Welcome To Heartbreak (feat. Kid Cudi), Say You Will, & Heartless
When I first heard that Kanye West was releasing a new album filled with Auto-Tuned vocals, I was excited, as Put On & Lollipop (Remix) were two of my favorite songs of the year! However, when the unmastered (and even the mastered) version of Love Lockdown was released, I was not as impressed with Mr. West. All in all, I have to say that Kanye definitely delivered! 808s is filled with great vocals, great lyrics, and great beats. Most of these tracks provoke deep emotions from the listener, and show how deep Kanye's emotions are by the combination of the vocals, lyrics, and beat. On Say You Will, the lyrics "I grab your neck, I touch your soul" show how dark Kanye could be, with the combination of the simple, yet emotional beat. On Amazing, when Kanye sings "I'm a monster, I'm a killer, I know I'm wrong," emotion is shown through very simple vocals. On Robocop, in the "spoiled little LA girl" part, a lighter, more-joking side of Mr. West is shown. However, I believe that one of the most emotional tracks that I have ever heard is Welcome To Heartbreak. When Kanye sings "bad enough that I showed up late, I had to leave before they even cut the cake, welcome to heartbreak," I can imagine some listeners could cry because of how sad this line shows Kanye's life as. Overall, I love Kanye's vocals (and the vocals of all of the guests), the lyrics on this album are some of Mr. West's greatest and darkest, and the beats are raw, yet excellent (on most of the songs). So, I think this album is a great turn for Kanye! And 808s & Heartbreak is now #3 on my Top 20 albums of 2008!
Well there's #3! I hope you all like it, as I know some of you that have of had avatars relating to 808s & Heartbreak. Anyways, until tomorrow, when I post my 2nd to favorite album of the year, see ya all!

MusicIsGoodForYou's Best of 2008! Top 20 Albums: #2
What's up people? Today, I will post album #2, leading up to posting #1 tomorrow. The album of today is from a well-known Britsh band. I know this album is high on other people/critics charts, so why not here too?:
Recap:
20. Gnarls Barkley - The Odd Couple
19. John Legend - Evolver
18. Tyga - No Introduction
17. Nas -
16. Ne-Yo - Year of the Gentleman
15. David Cook - David Cook
14. The All-American Rejects - When the World Comes Down
13. 3 Doors Down - 3 Doors Down
12. The Killers - Day & Age
11. The Raconteurs - Consolers of the Lonely
10. The Roots - Rising Down
9. Gym Class Heroes - The Quilt
8. Common - Universal Mind Control
7. Fall Out Boy - Folie a Deux
6. Nickelback - Dark Horse
5. Lil Wayne - Tha Carter III
4. T.I. - Paper Trail
3. Kanye West - 808s & Heartbreak
2. Coldplay - Viva la Vida & Prospekt's March

Drive to Buy/Listen to: My liking of Coldplay (for both), and my liking of Violet Hill & Viva la Vida (for the former only).
Favorite Songs: Yes, Violet Hill, Viva la Vida, Lost+ (feat. Jay-Z), & Life in Technicolor II
I decided to put these two together because Prospekt's March includes leftovers from the Viva la Vida sessions. This year, Coldplay delivered possibly their greatest album to date in Viva la Vida. Some of the great things about the album are Chris Martin's vocals, the melodies (whether dark or light), and some memorable guitar solos from Johnny Buckland. On Yes, Chris Martin's voice drops to an unbelieveable low, with a haunting melody behind it. On the first single, Violet Hill, the whole song, vocals and all, build-up to the amazing guitar solo in the song. Viva la Vida also contains some great lyrics, like on the title track. When Chris declares "I hear Jerusalem bells a-ringing, Roman cavalry choirs a-singing," everything in the song is so overwhelmingly awesome! There other great songs on the album, such as the creepy Cemeteries of London, and the simple-guitar chord sounding Strawberry Swing. Moving on, Prospekt's March contains some great leftovers and remixes of tracks from the Viva la Vida sessions. Lost! from Viva la Vida is great, but Lost+ from Prospekt's March is even better! This is because of the added verse from Jay-Z, where one of his best rhymes is: "C. Martin, see Malcolm, see Biggie, see Pac, see success and its outcome. See Jesus, see Judas, see Caesar, see Brutus, see success is like suicide." Another great rework from the EP is Life in Technicolor II. The song contains great lyrics like: "Time came a-creeping, oh time's a loaded gun," and great vocals to fit wth the instrumental. Some of the other tracks on Prospekt's March are good, like the Osaka Sun Mix of Lovers in Japan, and the video game theme/Viva la Vida esque Rainy Day. Overall, both of these works are great, and that's why Viva la Vida & Prospekt's March by Coldplay are #2 on my Top 30 Albums of 2008!
Well, there's my #2 album. I hope you all like it. What are some of your predictions of my #1? Let me know with some comments! See ya'll!

MusicIsGoodForYou's Best of 2008! Top 20 Albums: #1!!!
Here we are! Almost in 2009, and I have gone through my top songs, and am almost done with my top albums. I think some of you would be abke to predict what my #1 album is. I mean, wouldn't someone listen to the album that contains their #1 song of the year?
Recap:
20. Gnarls Barkley - The Odd Couple
19. John Legend - Evolver
18. Tyga - No Introduction
17. Nas -
16. Ne-Yo - Year of the Gentleman
15. David Cook - David Cook

13. 3 Doors Down - 3 Doors Down

4. T.I. - Paper Trail
3. Kanye West - 808s & Heartbreak
2. Coldplay - Viva la Vida & Prospekt's March
1. Panic at the Disco - Pretty. Odd.

Drive to Buy/Listen to: My liking of Nine in the Afternoon, and news of Pretty. Odd. being Beatles-influenced.
Favorite Songs: Nine in the Afternoon, That Green Gentleman (Things Have Changed), Northern Downpour, Behind the Sea, & Mad As Rabbits
First of all, lemme get outta the way that The Beatles are probably my favorite band of all-time. Anyways, Panic at the Disco's old fans may not like Pretty. Odd. Others may think it resembles the work of The Beatles too much. However, I think this album is fantastic! Departing from the dance-rock sound of their debut, Panic at the Disco have delivered an album with great instrumentals, vocals, & lyrics. On Nine in the Afternoon, the blaring horns and guitars fit with Brendan Urie's vocals to produce a beautiful and kind-of circusy arena-anthem. The video for that song is great as well. On Behind the Sea, Brendan and Ryan Ross flip-flop between vocals, over some simple guitar and horns, resulting in another awesome track! Other great melodies of Pretty. Odd. are on That Green Gentleman, Mad As Rabbits, & the beautiful ballad Northern Downpour. Some of Pretty. Odd.'s great lyrics are on She Had The World, where Brendan Urie almost-cockily declares "she held the world upon a string, but she didn't ever hold me. She spun the stars on her fingernails, but it never made her happy, because she couldn't ever have me." One of the odd parts about Pretty. Odd. is that Panic is now catering to adults. Despite this, I (a teenager) am liking Panic at the Disco much more than on A Fever You Can't Sweat Out! And I have gotten my Dad to love the band too! On the album opener, We're So Starving, Brendan says "oh how it's been so long. We're so sorry we've been gone. We were busy writing songs for.....you!" Well, these songs made for us have proven to be excellent! Anyways, with happy, Beatles-esque melodies, Pretty. Odd. by Panic at the Disco is my favorite album of 2008!!!
There you have it. My Top 20 Albums of 2008 chart is complete. I will be back tomorrow with some recaps, and maybe some other favorites of 2008 top start off 2009. And what do you all thnk of my #1 album? Leave a comment! See ya all in 2009!!
