cliché: noun
a phrase or opinion that is overused and betrays a lack of original thought.
"Bite my tongue" is not a cliché, it's just an idiom. It's not really a thought so much as part of a thought.
Now, "I stood for nothing, so I fell for everything," on the other hand, is definitely clichéd.
