Yes, I would lose some respect for Gaga as an artist. But only if she went to the exact old Gaga and like made a carbon-copy of her.

If she made lighter music and videos in another way, I wouldn't lose respect because that's still evolving. Learning by your mistakes isn't a bad thing.

The thing is though, dance music wasn't really considered generic in 2008. Now, people say 'The Fame' Gaga was generic, but at that time it was something refreshing and completely different. It kind of evoked the sound to return to radio. And Gaga has always had creative input, since the beginning.

I agree, but The Fame was really a social experiment -- she embodied every possible cliché for what a popstar should look and sound like, and claimed fame for herself, and actual fame followed.

I have problems with the premise of this thread. You're asking a question hinting at negative answers all in one. But in order to answer your question, I would say that I definitely would. Lady Gaga is a pop star, first and foremost, and a pop star is a hit maker by definition. You just cannot be a pop star if there aren't any hits or any sort of success in Top 40 radio, a pop star's realm.

I have always thought that The Fame/Monster are genius work, especially the hooks. It is not easy to write catchy hooks. If Gaga returns to and keeps the sound and look that made her an icon in the first place, to her dominating presence in the industry (around 2009 - 2010), she would definitely get my respect and admiration back.

The fact she is working with RedOne is completely irrelevant, since he also worked on Born This Way. The fact she is probably coming back with more accessible music and/or image also isn't a problem: she is a popstar, and it is something all of your other faves have done. And isn't it what all of you have been asking for since the start of this darker Era? BTW was an album dedicated to her fans, she said it probably would have been a hard and once-in-a-carreer thing; and since some of her fans have been disappointed, I don't see why she should feel obliged to keep it that way.

The only way she could lose SOME of my respect would be her doing another The Fame, but she isn't. She's above that. Another TF(M) would be amazing; that is what made me fall in love with Gaga for the first time.

How is doing another "The Fame: Monster" any different or "better" than doing
another "The Fame." Lady Gaga would still be regressing and
compromising herself as an artist by not moving forward.
