Are you comparing 21's impact with Born This Way's? Now tell me who's the idiot.
19 had sold well in the UK, but wasn't a real big-seller before 2011. 21's HUGE success obviously made a lot of people interested, that's why it sold a lot.
Born This Way had an amazing success, but its impact is not even close to 21's, and TF(M) had already sold more than 13M copies, which makes it selling 1.5M this year even more amazing. The reason why TF(M) sold wasn't only the Born This Way release (if it had an effect, it was only during the release week, when it effectively showed a noticeable increase), it simply is a classic pop album, which is going to sell for a long time.
