We'll be seeing these old Pokemon we may have never got the opportunity to train or maybe have trained several times in a completely new light. The sheer amount of Pokemon catchable will keep things fresh.

You'd have to do so many different playthroughs before the game was boring, due to the number of different Pokemon in the regional dex.

I agree. Even tho it is common that the even gens focus more on gameplay and features. This one in particular really seems to be mainly focusing on the said things

Gen 1+2 fit snugly together, Gen 3+4+5 all eventually worked together, and Gen 6 now feels like the start of a completely new bunch of games. As in, the shift between Gen 5 & 6 feels as big/momentous as the shift between Gen 2 & 3.

I like that point you raised about B&W. I actually loved those games on my first couple of playthroughs but despite the amount of new Pokemon, it didn't quite feel "fresh" and "new" in comparison to
Platinum or
HeartGold. It just felt like an extension of them, unlike these games that actually feels like a whole new start.

For my team for my first playthrough in
Pokemon X I just kind of want a nice range of types, but rather simple in obtaining them, too. I don't want most of my planned team to be obtainable around the 7th gym, and so I hope the pokemon I've picked for my team are going to be obtainable early on.
