I think it was her decision to ask Gill and Krauss to join her.. It's known that she is a huge fan of both, and both have praised her. Did she have her country reputation in mind when she made the decision? Yes, but of course she would ask country artists to join her for a country award show performance..
As for her coming sound, I would really be shocked if it wasn't rock. Taylor was raised listening to an eclectic group of artists, ranging from Rock bands, to jazz, from pop artists, to confessional country songwriters. With the release of RED and now Sweeter Than Fiction, it's becoming apparent that she's starting to make music in the style of those that influence her. The only way she'd be able to continue doing this and combine all of the sounds into a coherent album would be if she took a more classic-rock approach. She co-wrote with Axl Rose, and now there's the benefit concert with BonBon, she's already sung with The Rolling Stones... In between each era, she give us hints at what's to come. The intimate performances before Speak Now showed that she was going to focus on the intimate details of an album. The collaborations before RED showed us that she was looking to branch out more. Now that she's suddenly taken on this rock persona, collaboration-wise and style-wise, shouldn't that tell us something?

!!! - It's a Country awards show. It's a party for Country artists. So inviting Country artists is just common sense. Now, inviting Rock or other genres' acts is the one decision that should be side-eyed. Though, I'm sure CU fans wouldn't do it.

Idk what to make about LP5 tbh. If Axl Rose co-write is happening, that's good. But as usual, the material from Year 1 usually will be thrown to the trash can.
What I can think, though, this next one will be less commercial if we follow the pattern.
LP 1 - Her doing what She wanted
LP 2 - Commercial success
LP 3 - (see LP 1)
LP 4 - (see LP 2)

EDIT: Btw I read one funny comment, about how She talked about Her music will be "edgier and sexier." Like.... since when "weirder & darker" = "edgier & sexier"? Children....
