I was thinking of this as well. Maybe her team was trying to do major damage control?
Even though Miley's stunt didn't repair everything, it was a good move to do something so charitable at an event you just become notorious for a year ago. I think if she keeps doing public appearances and then releases her lead single next mid-late Summer and an album in October she'll do fine.

Also, am I the only one that wants her next lead single to feature a rapper? She's never released a collaboration (as a lead artist) as a single. I think if she did something Max Martin/Dr. Luke with Wiz or Nicki it'd be a huge hit. Especially considering the amount of stuff she could do with a video like that and performances. So think something like Problem but more Miley-ish if that's possible.
