Overstayed its welcome. I gave it a 7, but am regretting it now. Was pulled in by one of the King's top ten vocal performances on record - but really, this is a Diane Warren song. She never met a cliche (or a vagina) that she didn't want to devour. The production hints at some genuinely interesting Social Network-esque type **** in the first five seconds, and then peters out to typical Tedder, with more of an African tribal influence.
I still **** with it though - but very clearly the weakest of the "i" tracks.

So this is an epic song, nevertheless, I find it a little cocky ahahaha, gave it a 9,5.

Overall Score - 7.685 Highest Score - 10 (6x)/Lowest Score - 3 (3x)
Arguably the most divisive track on the album. I love it, but I can totally understand - and relate to - why people don't. It frequently overwhelms itself with nonsense, and the base metaphor ... doesn't work as well as she thinks it does. But the rejoinders - "I can be sex/unless you want to hold hands!" are classic. 8

Cool. Thought it was more loved though. Gave it a 9

This should have stayed there. You bastards.
13. Britney Spears - How I Roll
Overall Score - 7.704 Highest Score - 10 (16x)/Lowest Score - 0 (1x)
The third best verses on the standard edition. The best bridge bar none on the standard edition. The best chorus. Genuinely the only sonically adventurous, progressive and daring (bar BRITSTEP, of course) song in the 1-12 sequence. Also perfect proof that Bloodshy and Avant get Britney ten times more than a hack like Dr. Luke ever will. Should be the fifth single. Obvy I gave it a ten.
|
Of course ATRL is too generic and stuff to apreciate such a masterpiece, so I must say I am shocked to see How amazing Roll that high. The person who gave it a 0 needs theraphy.

Here's the thing - the song's great. In fact, the "all-star" remix highlights how great the song is - and how it COULD be one of Britney's best singles.
But the production is lame. In the words of one of ATRL's queens, it's "tired, thru and delayed."
And Britney's vocal on the track - how did that pass the demo stage? What happened there?
Still gave it a 8.
|
This song deserved Top ****ing 10, but it's ATRL, once again not shocked.

Originally written for one of The Dream's solo albums, I know can't hear anyone but Bey sing it. Maybe --- the finest non p-popper she's ever done? Scratch that maybe, yes. You'd have trouble finding a more humane and genuinely joyous song on any mainstream 2011 release. The very definition of a ten.
|
Now THIS is shocking. I was expecting this to be way lower, I don't think it's a fair position though.
Oh well, seems like Britney's chances to be #1 are low but will keep praying, because FF's songs are obviously better

Considering the remaining songs, I hope the Top 10 is like this:
10. He About To Lose Me
9. Scheiße
8. Inside Out
7. Countdown
6. Heavy Metal Lover
5. Love On Top
4. End of Time
3. Bloody Mary
2. Hold It Against Me
1. The Edge of Glory.

It's like "Halo 2.0" production-wise. She slays me when the third chorus kicks in.

Absolutely brilliant. I would say that it's the most progressive and most experimental track on the album right after "Heavy Metal Lover." The hooooookaaaaaaaaer's are fantastic,
I'm gonna drink my tears tonight
I'm gonna drink my tears and cry
Cuz I know you love me baby
I know you love me baby

Arguably one of the best pop songs of the year. The genius handclap-assisted beat, the chant, nothing on the album is as attention grabbing. Bloodshy (Christian) is behind both "How I Roll" and "Trip To Your Heart," or Bloodshy, Henrik Jonback and Magnus, to be exact. Avant (Pontus) had nothing to do with them.

I agree the production is a bit tired, but the song is still pretty damn good. The anthemic chant, the gorgeous chorus, and a certain edge the song has make it special.

No. That didn't turn exactly how I wanted it to be.
Hands down one of her all-time best.

Our final ten will consist of:
Bloody Mary
Countdown
The Edge of Glory
End of Time
He About to Lose Me
Heavy Metal Lover
Hold It Against Me
Inside Out
Love on Top
Schiebe
Well done. But really, number ten (won't say what that is yet!) isn't fit to lick Schoolin' Life's boots.

Who would have thought that Britney would have the strongest tracks in the top 10? Gaga has the weakest tracks, sans "Heavy Metal Lover."

In my opinion, Love On Top is the least deserving song on the Top 10.
Then Inside Out...

It's messy in parts, I feel that it could have been better if the focus of the song was tighter and the production was polished up more.

Britney's best song.
I can't believe it has gone, it is amazing the way the production pops, jingles and mocks Britney's voice till the point where it literally jumps off the track. The lyrics are fun yet clever and the whole thing is brought together with the helium inflated vocals.
Britney stans should be ashamed.

Boring, repetitive and generic but it is saved by its breakdown and the femme fatale remix. It still should have peaked way earlier.

The best song on 4. I cant believe that this just missed top 10. Besides the simplistic yet layered production the song itself builds on very simple lyrical content that through Beyonce's voice oozes emotion and, in parts, charm.
