Little Mix is only famous because of One Direction. While Fifth Haromy is actually known for talent
pure BS.... I stanned and liked LM... since they released WINGS... considering I'm not from UK... I remembered when they started having the WINGS hit in several places WW... I'm from Latinamerica and by that time there were not Zayn/Perrie news... so take your seat...
Have you taken into consideration that 5H didn't win X-Factor like LM and weren't immediately pushed by their label nor were they romantically connected to One Direction to sky rocket their popularity?
Nobody has denied that they were more successful than 5H at one point. But right now, 5H is killing and that's what we're talking about. With ONE album and a measly EP, they were able to come close to the record sales of LM's 1st 2 and get a hit bigger than any of theirs.
and who said either was global? lmao.
Not to mention, there's a big market for girl groups in the UK....they've always been prevalent there. That combined with their win on TXF, a huge show in the UK and big label support shows that they had a much easier start than 5H.
TXF was not a very big show here in the US, there was no market for girl groups, and they didn't have a ton of label support coming off of the show. It was an uphill battle for them, and that made their success so impressive.
Little Mix are better harmonizers, sound better as a group, look more cohesive, are better dancers, but they're so BLAND.
A lot of the LM girls sound similar. 5H are much more interesting and the girls are much more unique and have their own specific voice and personality.
I also feel like good or bad, 5H have found more of their signature sound, while little mix's music is more generic, which doesn't mean it's worse.
Little Mix are bland, but everything about Fifth Harmony feels contrived and lets not fool ourselves they have not found their sound they're simply just chasing a trend looking for a hit therefore this sound you speak of them supposedly having found will be done and over with by their next record
Gurl whatever. 5H only even exist because of Little Mix. They stole everything about their X Factor story, right even to changing their name in the middle of the competition.
This site is also full of mindless, shallow young gays. 5H are inherently more sexual (not naturally so, but as a cheap ploy to garner sales) so the gays on here flock to that more than the positive image LM have. Little Mix have carved out their own unique sound in the industry and crafted a positive image built on their vocal talent while 5H follows trends. The only reason they even have the success they do right now it because of the blatant Talk Dirty copy. Of course it will do well on US radio when it already smashed the year before.
....What
I don't get why some of you seem so bothered by 5H. Just focus on your fave if you don't like them. I'm sorry but its not a good look at all to be trash talking 5H so heavily to try and make your own fave look better, making excuses for their success, etc.....everyone can see through it.
I also feel like good or bad, 5H have found more of their signature sound, while little mix's music is more generic, which doesn't mean it's worse.
FIFTH HARMONY have their own signature sound!?? Not one thing they've done is fresh, new or original. Half of their stuff borders between a blatant copy or extreme inspiration of past hits.
The audacity to call LM's music generic when Move is easily and indisputably the most innovative and unique song by a girl group since Biology.

besides Worth It, what trend did they chase? This coming from a Little Mix fan as if "Move" wasn't created to sound like "Blurred Lines"... like "Pretty Girls" wasn't written to sound like "Fancy" ...like "Black Magic" doesn't have that 80s vibe that's been running rampant on radio lately.
and yes, LM are very VERY talented. No denying that but like that user said, they are as bland as ever. How many cheesy empowerment ballads are you going to sing?
Who cares? They released their debut album 11 months after they won (December 2011 - November 2012) - by then, a whole other series of X factor was well underway - and one member's association with One Direction is not going to affect much. I really don't think you understand how strongly the odds are stacked against LM when comparing them to 5H.
LM are from the UK, a nation with a population 5x less than the population of the US, where 5H are based. Every hit LM achieves in their native country is likely to be outsold by a smaller hit 5H achieves in the US. We already see this with Black Magic which is around 300k I believe and Worth It which is at 1.4m, despite the former being a #1 hit and the latter not even reaching the top 10.
Despite this HUGE disadvantage, 5H's debut album and their debut EP combined will not outsell LM's debut album alone, and the singles sold from their debut albums are on par with one another.
LM is bigger than 5H, today, yesterday, and tomorrow (Get Weird will outsell Reflection). The end.
I like how you're conveniently ignoring the facts that
-The X Factor was a MUCH bigger show in the UK than in the US.
-There is a big market for girl groups in the UK.
-They had big label support coming off of the show given that big exposure.
People knew there was a good chance they'd be stars and have success, as many X Factor album do. That was a big platform for them to introduce themselves to the public.
There was literally no girl group market in the US, TXF wasn't big here, the previous season had no stars, and they didn't have much label support coming off of the show. The odds are very clearly stacked against them when comparing them to LM....they had a MUCH harder time starting. Nobody knew they were going to be successful and people weren't expecting it.
they can sing... but they are not as consistent and as blended as LM.. and that's a fact... and I'm sorry but do you even know that harmonizing takes more than 1 diferent harmony... 5H don't have the ear to harmonize each one of them diferent notes.. they sometimes just do a paralel harmonizing.. while LM, each of them most of the time harmonize in diferent notes...
yes 5H have great singers but don't pretend they are most of the time out of tune (ally and normani) and camilla trying to outshine everybody while the others are singing... that's not a group... they are just 5 girls with good voices put together who haven't get their "group thing" together....
Little Mix are bland, but everything about Fifth Harmony feels contrived and lets not fool ourselves they have not found their sound they're simply just chasing a trend looking for a hit therefore this sound you speak of them supposedly having found will be done and over with by their next record
They have found their sound, and most of the reviews for Reflection praised their Urban/R&B/Pop sound.

girll... do you even know that before LM winning X factor, all of the girl groups were eliminated before week 3 so let's not pretend girl groups were accepted in the UK besides the las groups that had success there like 10 years ago
Well said.

Exactly. They're both Pop music groups so of course some of their songs are going to fit in nicely with Pop radio and sound similar to trends going around. It's ridiculous to say 5H chases trends and act like LM is so original and innovative....Black Magic is literally the 80's Pop trend going around in songs like Want You To Want Me, DNA is very similar to ET, etc.
they only do pararel harmonizing.. and for that only takes 1 person... why are the other 3 replicating the same harmony... ohh yeah right because they can't do a 3rd, 4th or 5th harmony..... no pun intended .... you would expect them with their name to slay the harmonies putting glee to shame.. butk no... just accept the fact they are not as strong as a group vocally.... everyting that I'm saying comes from someone who has musical background... I'm not a 15 years old stanning blindly for someone...
oh and btw have you seen all of the 5H videos who sound great have the vocals clearly processed in a studio, pitch corrected and then uploaded like that..... LM has millions of actually raw and unretouch performances even with flaws sounding amazing... btw have you guys who defend 5H ever been in a recording studio, do you know what melodyne is... ohh ok ... no thank you
This coming from a Little Mix fan as if "Move" wasn't created to sound like "Blurred Lines"...
That's cute you think that but there was literally a 4 month window from the time Blurred Lines was released until Salute was finished recording.

I clocked a harmonizer on this already but let me go ahead and let you know, too. WYTWM was released in March and the girls shot the video for Black Magic the very first week May. You're trying to tell me they saw the success of WYTWM, decided to go in that direction, hire a writing and production team, record the song, plan and film an overseas video for it in the span of 8 weeks? Okay sis.

What in the world? Girl groups have absolutely been accepted there. 10 years ago...?
The year end Top 100 from 2010, the year before Little Mix were on The X Factor, has 2 songs from The Saturdays. The year before that has multiple songs by The Saturdays and The Pussycat Dolls. The year before that has multiple songs from Girls Aloud and Sugababes. It's beyond ridiculous to pretend that girl groups weren't around there when the evidence is right there in front of you....they've clearly been a thing there.
That's why there's been girl groups on so many seasons of TXF. Same with boy bands, who were absent in the US before One Direction came over here.
