Alright, I’m going to comment on this Best of. Funny banner.
BU: Liked that EM song. #Beautiful & Simply Amazing are simply just that. Love Me is a fine Katy song, I remember Flash Delirium. What a delirium that was. Roar was fine for awhile, like Let Her Go, Rosana ( I know some people in the internet really hates it esp. the lyrics) is alright, Wagon Wheel is nice, Crazy Kids is ok, New Year is amazing.
Top 100- Uh no. That Kelsi Luck song is atrocious period. Every Strom & Timeless are so wonderful all-around. Perfume is my least hated song of Britney. Like that Wild Cub song, Pompeii is epic esp. with its crazy sound, Harlem is very catchy, like Sunset. I Believe is a nice song once in awhile and nice video it has.
Kacey is alright, Waiting For The night has such a nice vibe and loved Fiora’s vocals. She’s beautiful. Like One of those nights, Sweater Weather give such a great cold feeling. Wild for the night is nice once in awhile. Counting Stars bring such good power, Awkward is ok.
Like the Man Man song and Ghost is one of my favs from the album, Get Lucky is one of THE best songs of 2013, Come Together is a nice song that I was late to listen. Demons is such an amazing song, Birthday is alright not one to get pumped up tho. Bruno is making love like a Gorilla. Dance with me is nice, oh like both versions of Summertime sadness. Ridin’ is such a great Hip-Hop jam. I miss songs like these.
Like that Randy Houser song, I remember that RiRi/Brezzy song. I liked it and didn’t care what anyone though about the ordeal. Wake Me Up has such a good mix of music that I liked. Headband is alright, I find LS the better of M5 singles along with OMN recently. That Monkey song wow.
Animals is a good song with such a good mix that I wish that I listen to this song some more. DYWC is amazing all-around, That’s My Kind of Night is alright, and that Flo/Pitbull song is such a major letdown. Liked Hey Brother for sure, LL is one of my favs from her album, Team is just epic.
Was Crystal Vases the song I liked from 2011? And the video got released in 2013? I still like it. Headlights is most of everyone’s fav non-single song from the album and mine too. Merry GO Round is alright, The Phoenix is my most liked FOB song of 2013. I do like that Goodbye song.
Overall I finding out some good songs so far. You got some nice and different taste in music for better or worse. Some unknowns that look kinda interesting. Good job so far with the countdown and flashbacks that I know.
I remember everyone going on about how this song sounded like Passion Pit. There are definitely some influences, but this is way better than any Passion Pit song I've ever heard. That hook and that chorus are absolute heaven. I absolutely love how he does that hook, his vocals there sound so amazing. And then the chorus comes in and the production sounds totally epic there. The lyrics overall are actually really damn good, I like the theme of this song. The little 'ooh's and 'aah's tossed in there really help a lot too. The bridge is pretty nice too, just a really catchy track. The song had a strong peak and good longevity.
So Bruno Mars had a pretty huge year for me, as evidenced by the fact that you'll be sick of all the Bruno seen in this set. This is the first really big smash of his on my chart to fall, and it's the only one that missed the #1 position. This song ended up in the runner-up spot, but had good longevity. A really amazing piano ballad, allowing for Bruno to really showcase his amazing vocal talent. Don't get me wrong, it's a really great piano accompaniment; but Bruno Mars does it more than justice. His vocals are absolutely magical and the feeling in his voice just pulls your emotions into it all. The lyrics express just perfect amount of broken-heartedness and yearning.
Tim McGraw is a pretty damn consistent hit-maker, and this song is certainly no exception. This is really one of his best, and to have it so late in his career speaks about his talent. Taylor Swift also proved just how much she can add to a song with relatively little, a testament to her own star power. Keith Urban really rocks this track, I love the guitar solo he was given. Not only does it appropriately fit the song, it's amazing. This song shot up to the top of my chart and had some solid longevity as well. Really, the lyrics to this are beautiful and masterful. The vocals and instrumental are strong as ever. All three artists seem to fit perfectly together on this mega-hit.
And here we have Bruno Mars again with his next single. This song was a great single release, and I'm glad it did well after looking like it was going to falter for a little bit. This song ended up topping the chart fairly easily and lasted a good amount of time on the chart. The speakonia-voice into is cute, and then Bruno just segues into it so seamlessly. The production is totally magical. Definitely has that great funky disco vibe, while sounding so fresh at the same time. Not only that, Bruno seems to have matched his vocals ever so slightly to match the instrumental ever so perfectly. The lyrics and theme match as well; it's really a hit of today straight from the past; and it's just an undeniable bop.
Okay, so I eventually did get over my dislike of this song and ended up embracing and loving it. I blame that still-irritable breathing sound he makes that really annoys me. Past that, everything else about this song is perfection. For a song about the Apocalypse this certainly captures the mood and really brings the setting to life. Really that instrumental is very original, very unique and very dark. The lyrics are carefully crafted and go along perfectly with the production of the song. The verses are pretty much everything to this song of course, but the chorus is really good too. The song peaked high and stayed there a bit and had good longevity, all the makings of a hit.
Another huge smash for Bruno Mars this year, this song is absolute perfection. It is absolutely not what he needs as a single though despite being perfect; I don't think the theme would work, so I'm glad he stayed clear of that. This song was a quick hit, shooting up to the top and logging plenty of solid weeks on the chart. The production is wonderfully dark and fresh, while at the same time coming across as vintage horror movie soundtrack. A huge tongue-in-cheek take on the lyrics and theme of this song, that chorus is pretty much everything. The verses are also everything. Really the lyrics in general are amazing; if there was a correct way to deliver this type of song, this is it. And Bruno once again sounds amazing, what a strong vocalist.
Peak: #1 (2 Weeks)
Weeks: 61 (35 of which were in 2012)
And here we have my #2 song of 2012; which has pretty much obliterated my #1 song of 2012's total points thanks to the insane longevity it's had. It's no secret that I absolutely love Flo Rida's music; and this is one of his best songs, if not the best. For a song that began it's 2013 chart run on it's 36th week, this is kind of an amazing showing. But yeah, 61 weeks is kind of hard to beat; you can't ask for better longevity. Flo Rida just damn kills it on this track with that guitar riff; it's pretty much one his best performances ever. I couldn't ask for a more enjoyable song to sing along with, and I love how he switches up his rapping between the first verse, second verse, and the bridge. Really he's got a lot of talent and his vocals sound so melodic on this track. The whistle effect is so addicting as well, this is just a total bop. I was so happy to see this hit #1 on the Hot 100, showing Flo Rida could top the chart with his vocals alone and dispelling the notion that he needed someone else to sing his hook for him to have a hit.
Okay, okay I promise this is the last Bruno Mars track...for this set at least. This track was yet another strong #1 smash for him, which lasted a great amount of time on my personal chart. I would have absolutely loved to see this become a U.S. single; I feel it would have done really well. But Bruno is already so many singles deep, I doubt the era has enough momentum left to sustain that. Still this song has a wonderful ambiance to it, pretty much the definition of laid back and mellow. And Bruno matches that beat for beat, taking a very conversational tone with both his lyrics and his vocals in this song. Really that's what makes his music and this track great, the ability to meld himself into the production that's given. The bridge is pure bliss here as well, and the outro is just the right pace for fading out of the feeling this song gives you.
A song that's pretty much made to put a smile on your face; and it really does. This song initially faltered some, had a big rebound on my chart, and then had a big drop. A peculiar chart run, but obviously a good one to have come this far on the year-end ranking. The production is really pumping, sounding fresh while at the same time a bit of a throwback thanks to the use of the brass. The lyrics are really fun and just work. You really want to believe what the song is trying to sell you; and the vocals just have that persuasive tone to them. Really just a wonderfully fun, uplifting song that keeps its promise.
And here we have the highest non-#1 song on my countdown; and it's actually a staggeringly low peak for how big of a hit this song was for me. This song didn't even get to have vengeance on the songs that kept it down so low, all four tracks ended up being #1 hits and haven't appeared yet. Still the massive longevity this track had helped it get a great placing here. The production here is absolutely stellar, really this song showcases the bands sound. Which makes it an appropriate sort-of title track for the album. The chorus here is pretty much lyrical genius, and the hook only makes it better. The verses are also really wonderful as well. I just love the show that this song films with its imagery. The vocals on this track are some of their best as well, so strong, so sincere. Really one of their best tracks ever.

I hope you all continue to check in as things get closer to wrap-up and I will continue to comment on everyone else's too despite my slowness!
Treasure! Love that song, one of my faves from Bruno.
Radioactive bored me to death now, but it was my jam at some point
Whiste is good. Safe and Sound! amazing song, my fave from this set.
I remember my first exposure to this song being sometime in late 2001/early 2002 thanks to a Dragon Ball Z flash animation on Newgrounds using it. I was really intrigued by the song and have pretty much loved it ever since; definitely a classic. It's no surprise that this was a Hot 100 #1 hit, it's kind of amazing, especially for its time. I will admit I'm partial to the U.S. single version, I just love the little things they did to the original mix (which is great as well). Falco's voice sounds really cool on this track, and the group chant during the chorus sounds so nice. The instrumental is pretty much rocking and amazing in every way. It's got great lyrics, I love the female intro in the beginning. Really the song just sounds like an anthem; what a great tribute to classical music.
Ugh, I know this shouldn't be one of my favourite songs from this flawless album; but I can't help it, this was just way too catchy for me to not spam on repeat. I just absolutely adore this track. Stromae's rapping is pretty spot on, I love what Maître Gims and Orelsan bring to the song as well; they sound awesome too. Really, the vocals and rapping on here are terrific. The lyrics are good too, although some of the weakest on the album to be fair. That doesn't matter though because the beat is absolute fire in this track. The clapping just makes you wanna rock out. The random interjections during the first verse totally slay me. Really an amazing song and I totally would love for it to be a single so I could get a video for this masterpiece. This song had great longevity, and actually spent a lot of time stuck in the #2 position but managed to not get blocked.
This song was a quick hit on my chart, climbing up my chart rather easily; it's actually still charting into 2014, so it's number of weeks here isn't really that low. But yes, this is such a good Pitbull song; easily one of his best. I just love the production here, he's a very smart businessman who knew exactly what trend to follow to snatch a mega-hit. His verse's are great here, I just love the Miley namedrop. It's so current and fresh, and just fits perfectly. His hook is amazing, he sounds so good when he sings it. Ke$ha brings a great vocal performance and amazing chorus to this song as well. Really it's just a total bop. I love the title too, 'timber' is such an expected word to see smashing the charts.
This song has had quite the chart run thus far, it's still charting into 2014. It's just had such excellent longevity. But this huge longevity and multiple weeks at #1 didn't end up translating to a stronger showing on this year end. That's because it shot up to the #1 spot very fast and then fell hard. However, while it fell near the bottom of my chart, it just never fell off. It has lingered in the lower section of my chart for so long. It's a song that I just can't let go of easily, I can always listen to it, just not much; but I do always want to listen to it a little each week. The production is absolutely amazing, it's so laid back and relaxed for much of the song; but then that huge part during the chorus is one of the most amazing things I've ever heard. Cindy's vocals and lyrics are beautiful, she just sounds marvelous with the production here.
Now this song is just totally fun. This song climbed up to the top of my chart and climbed down at a fair pace each way. That lead to a nice solid chart run and good placement here. The song's lyrics are so good, I love the tongue-in-cheekiness of it all. The instrumental is really fresh, a total bubblegum pop bop. The vocals here are awesome, but the vocals have always been great with Hot Chelle Rae so that's no surprise. This song is catchy from the chorus to the verses to the bridge to the outro. Really fun song.
Jason Aldean is no stranger to my chart; he's always had a lot of success with me, and this isn't his first chart-topper. Still, this is by far one of his best songs ever. His vocal delivery is one of the best in his entire discography. It helps that the lyrics are absolutely wonderful; the imagery painted with those words is simply magical. The production to this song is stellar; wonderfully laid-back and upbeat: chill, if you will. This song shot up to the top of my chart quickly, and stayed near the top for a good chunk of it's run. It ended up having no longevity once it dropped down some though. Still this song is amazing, it's just a really intimate experience lyrically.
Oh man, now this song is absolutely terrific. It's amazing it burned so quickly for how big it was, but it's still amazing to me. This song actually took a little bit to climb to the top, dominated there for a bit, and then fell off like a rock. Regardless, the production here is magical. I totally love the background noises thrown in throughout the track. It fits the with mountain sound theme very well. The lyrics here are totally amazing, the verses just click so well. The back-and-forth between the vocalists during the chorus is epic. They both deliver very well vocally as well. This song definitely takes you into a journey of the mountain sound. I'm still so upset that it only got a concert footage video. The video could have been amazing, just like their other videos.
And here we have another song with a bunch of random awkward noises tossed into the production as well. It's awesome in this song too, the production is really cool thanks to it. I'm happy to see this song as a single, but it's simply too late in the album's chart life to really take off and smash. That's okay though, this will always be a huge hit for me. This was actually the track on his album that took the most time to click and then smash; and then it had a fair pace down the chart as well. Bruno of course delivers amazing vocals here with his immense talent and stunning voice. The lyrics and theme of this song really fit him as well. It's a nice mix of his raunchy and intimate sides into one.
Stromae's lead single from his phenomenal album. Now Alors On Danse was a bop, but when this came around it totally blew me out of the water. The music video is heartbreaking and stunning at the same time. The song follows the same suit thanks the deeply personal from Stromae here. Really the theme and message of this song is a wonderful thing when expressed musically. It's really wonderful seeing an artist delve into these concepts. The production is great, I just love the little intro at the beginning. This song made big jumps to the top of the chart, dominated there for a while, and then coasted down. This song likely would have had more longevity if it weren't for the fact the rest of the album slayed me and distracted me from it.
And here we have another mega-smash single from my absolute favourite band. I'll admit this one took its time growing on me, but it still ended up smashing in a great way. It has slid down my chart rather slowly as well; it's still charting into 2014 as well. Generally, Linkin Park's lead singles are not their best; this is one of the exceptions to that rule, although the remix album might explain that. The production on this track is really great, I love the experimental routes that Linkin Park has always delved into. They are very willing to test limits and break boundaries while still remaining distinctly an alternative rock band. Chester's vocals on this track are spot on, and his chorus is really solid here. But I will admit that Shinoda completely outshines him on this track. The lyrics during his raps are so well delivered and spot on here, definitely my favourite parts of the song. He just gets me so psyched during those parts. Yet another amazing song in their already stunning catalog.
This song had a similar route that Beautiful Life too. This song managed to climb to the top fairly quickly, it dominated there for a bit and then catapulted to the lower regions of the chart. However this song did have a nice bounce back up and then slid down slowly again, and has since lingered on my chart. It's simply too good for me to give up, I cannot go without listening to it at least once in a while. The production here is just wonderful, chillax trance music that takes you on a wonderful ride. He did a really great job with this track. I really love what Trevor does here too, he delivers his vocals really well and conveys the message of the lyrics perfectly. This track is simply marvelous.
Thank you all for your comments holyground, mathuss, AshleeSimpsonFan, K$Ellie, and AshleeSimpsonFan [2]. Glad to have you all still checking in and keeping up with things! I hope you enjoy this set and what has yet to come! I welcome and encourage any and all predictions for the Top 10!
This is literally one of the greatest songs of all time for me. This is pretty much musical genius in every way, which explains why it has been covered so many times. But really, this original just towers over everything else. The instrumental alone is absolutely marvelous, which should be expected from the man who gave us "Tubular Bells". Maggie really sounds beautiful on this track, her vocals are simply gorgeous. The lyrics here are really terrific as well, really as you progress through the song the heartbreak just creeps in with each passing part of the story. Really the song is framed as some sort of romantic love song, but it's much more tragic and bittersweet than that. The imagery portrayed through the lyrics here is immense, you just become so easily immersed in the scenes. A song which really has made a huge impact on me personally.
