EU =/= a country
The fact that you have to combine multiple countries to make an invalid argument says a lot. Just admit the superiority of the US instead of being pressed

They are threatened and feel inferior right now. Usually all people can do is attack during those times. Sucks for them

Greatest nation because you're good at sport? Ok then. Let's just ignore that you have a Mass shooting practically every week and there's a good chance Donald Trump will be president.

If you could read you'd see AxelFox is from Eastern Europe, so relax with the "you" and unnecessary defensiveness

Countries are merely a formality. The EU, with a population 1.5 times bigger has 2 times more gold medals. This proves that the US is not superior if we adjust to population size. And so, population size is the only reason the US has the most medals. I'll give you that the US is superior over India and China when it comes to sports, congratulations with that
For me personally, a European federalist, combining all 27 member states of the EU is equal to combining all states of the US. The EU just hasn't formally become a federal state yet.

How? It is not the same thing at all. Most European nations were formed separately from each other and developed a culture all on their own. They each have their own unique traditions that have been around for centuries. On the other hand, these European countries made the USA and it grew as one country. How is grouping multiple countries together fair?

Yet again, countries aare a formality. They are simply a scale level of governance. In the EU, there's a level of governance above the territorial level of state, just like in the US. The fed in the US is the same territorial level as the EU in Brussels.
Culture; ethnicity does not have to be related to a country. Culture is not how countries were formed in many cases. Yet again, nationality is a formality and I would say Kansas and California share just as much as Poland and the Netherlands when it comes to culture.
Is Tibet a different country than the US, just because it has a different culture? Palestine? Kurdistan? Basque? Catalonia? Culture does not necessarily correlate with state.

Hi! As evidenced by your condescending posts you don't really understand how the Olympics work! Countries are only allowed to send a certain number of athletes. That's why you have countries like China and Australia sending the same amount of athletes! This means while only two Americans can attempt to get a spot in an event final, 56 (28 * 2) European Union members can! Now if you combined all these European nations, you'd be removing a LOT of athletes... and their medals
When London hosted the Olympics and Great Britain were allowed to send many more athletes, they won a LOT more medals than normal! If there were no limits, the medal count would look a lot different. That is why you cannot account for population size
US athletes competing: 554 / Gold medals: 24
EU athletes competing: 3,607 / Gold medals: 52
Ouch

Which might take up to 10 years. The process of leaving has yet to start. Maybe in two olympic games you can really say that the UK (or England+Wales) has left.

If we took the best two from the whole of the EU, we could still get the same results when it comes to gold and silver medals. Hypothetically only bronze medals would go away. I highly doubt that the two submissions from Luxembourg, Malta and Latvia make a big difference. If we assume that the EU does not send the two best athletes for each field, it would still be very difficult to suddenly get more than two times less gold medals during the Olympics, to get to the amount of the US.
Tl;dr the EU indeed sends 56 people/teams, yet in the EU, too, a top two can be made which would lead to the same results in gold and silver medals if we assume they indeed send the best two.
