If it was the biggest era, the sales would have been considerably higher and she would've rejuvenated the industry for a lot of people. Don't get me wrong, it's a huge commercial era and easily one of the biggest ever, but it didn't really do much for the industry, especially not for other artists.

It made female solo pop acts happen again, or tell me which other female was being as successful in 1998, 1999?

Last albums that were impactful and sold a lot of copies by females were by Shania Twain, who was on her 3rd album, and it was in 1997, and Celine Dion, which was already stablished as a force in music. Britney was the only solo female newcomer having an impactuful era in that time frame, and a lot of other females started appearing after seeing the success that era caused

There were 4 albums that year that ended up selling more than 20 million copies. Obviously if you are the only one selling that ammount you will be #1, but if you are one out of 4 people selling that ammount you will have to battle for that spot

Now sis, that's not even a little true. Britney was an absolute phenomenon, well above even Gaga circa 2009, and BOMT was what established her as one. BOMT had so much more cultural impact, and almost single-handedly ushered in a major wave of teenpop. I really don't think some of you are old enough to realize just how big Britney was then, relative to any of her peers.

21 wins in sales tho, especially given the fact that album sales are way lower now than they were then. I forgot to take that into account when I voted in the poll, and I regret it. If I had, I'd probably have voted for ARTPOP.

It changed how teen girls were marketed. Look at female teen idols before BOMT like Debbie Gibson and Tiffany, then after like Xtina, Jessica Simpson, Mandy Moore, Miley Cyrus, Selena Gomez etc.

Still, 21 is obviously the bigger success.

And let's not forget that Adele's success opened the doors for other British acts. There has not been this much interest in British music on the American charts in a long time.

And before the Amy fans run in here, no one is saying Adele started it.
