"How To Save A Life" was also an OFFICIAL single. So, it's not only from the Grey's Anatomy soundtrack. I mean, I started to like the song because I first heard it there, and I believe it became a single due to its success on TV, hehehee, but yes, it was a single from Fray's debut album - with 2 videos, btw.

I like all the tracks, including The Fray's one.
But I MUST say #3 NICKELBACK's "FAR AWAY" is one of the
best songs of the year,
NELLY WILL BE #1 - Take that! \kiss

So, today's the day!! Before anything else, I'd like to thank you all for coming here and leaving your comments about my favourite singles, albums and videos of 2006!! I must say this year wasn't as full of highlights and big big hits like the previous ones, and the videos weren't so impressive, but we still had good moments, like Nelly Furtado's strong and unexpected comeback.
Speaking only of my musical taste, this year was interesting because I started to like more rock bands, such as The Fray and Snow Patrol. I mean, I never was a rock fan, but this kinda alternative sound fits me very well. In other words, my personal weekly chart wasn't just as Pop as 2003, 2004 and 2005 were.
Well, time for a recap; check again my favourite singles this year, from 75 to 3.

02. NELLY FURTADO FEAT. TIMBALAND - PROMISCUOUS
"Wait, I don't mean no harm
I can see you with my t-shirt on, I can see you with nothin' on
feelin' on me before you bring that on
Bring that on?
You know what I mean
Girl, I'm a freak you shouldn't say those things
I'm only trying to get inside of your brain
to see if you can work me the way you say"
Nelly Furtado probably had the best year of her career, in my opinion. Ok, during the "Whoa, Nelly!" Era she won a Grammy and all that (which she can still do again next year), but "Loose" gave her an status she never managed to have before. While "Promiscuous" was dominating the US, "Maneater" was all over Europe. We could say Europe already liked Nelly's past singles, but the US, no matter what anybody can say, is the most important market in the world, and there not even "I'm Like A Bird" was half as successful as "Promiscuous" was. Maybe some say she ignored all her instincts and her history, selling herself to the style that owns US radios. But if you look through her career, you'll see she's always changing her music, trying new things, as if she was playing a different character in every album - And this time she decided to go for something that appeals more to the US audience. I see nothing wrong with that. The most important point is she recorded a brilliant album, and "Promiscuous" is an excellent combination of Nelly's voice and Timbaland's production; it's hypnotizing, to say the least.

FINALLY, THE is...
01. SNOW PATROL - CHASING CARS
"I need your grace,
to remind me
to find my own
If I lay here
If I just lay here,
Would you lay with me and just forget the world?
Forget what we're told,
before we get too old
Show me a garden that's bursting into life
All that I am,
All that I ever was
is here in your perfect eyes, they're all I can see"
Yeah, it was a tough decision. All the songs from my Top 5 were pretty close, any could have been #1. But "Chasing Cars" is just too PERFECT to be 'only' a runner-up or something. No other song has such beautiful and touching lyrics, or has a video that fits the song so well. Add to that the fact that I was in New York when I first heard the song, in the end of Grey's Anatomy season 2 finale. Izzie, played amazingly good by Katherine Heigl, just gave everybody a lesson of acting, and "Chasing Cars" really matched her outstanding performance. I must say I became addicted to series by mid-2005, thanks to a friend of mine who presented me The OC. Then, I started to watch Lost. Then, Desperate Housewives and One Tree Hill and, finally, Grey's Anatomy (these are my 5 favourite TV shows nowadays). And lately not even The OC can equal the effect the songs from Grey's Anatomy have in me - see that "How To Save A Life" and "Breathe (2AM)" are also charting. From all the songs I came to know by TV shows, movies etc, "Chasing Cars" (which, btw, was also played in one of One Tree Hill's last episodes of its 3rd season) is, without a second thought, the best one. And I can't talk about "Chasing Cars" without mention, of course, Snow Patrol. I only 'discovered' them this year, and, despite the fact that I want to kill myself (lol) for not having known them before, it was the best new thing Music gave me in 2006. If you haven't bought their "Eyes Open" album yet, you seriously don't know what you're missing. It's a masterpiece, trust me.
