I think it's time to give up

Oh, gotcha. The same thing happened to me when using my old laptop but that's because I have all EPs+SPs installed and pretty much most of The Sims Store content and also because I was playing with some huge worlds and giant mansions.
My game became playable after I bought a new laptop this year, tbh

Why does it take over 30 minutes for The Sims 3 to load? I don't even have more than five custom content mods at the moment too. Guess I'll be stuck playing Sims 2 cause..

^^I remember taking a shower once while waiting for TS3 to load.
TS4 got extremely better with load times.

It takes about 2 mins for the initial screen to load and then around 5-10 mins when selecting my families with all EPs, SPs, Store items, and multiple mods and default replacements.
I followed a guide to merge all mods and custom content into one single package using S3PE, maybe that will help you with your loading times

This SO much! TS4 is literally maybe 10 -15 second loading times for me. The Sims 2/3 were awful for me. Even though I LOVE The Sims 2, but trying to leave to go somewhere was a pain in the ass.

No, I've done that, that's why I only have five files (hair, clothes, sliders, and NRAAS). It's all legally bought too. I have no clue why it is so slow.

TS4 takes me like 2-3 minutes to load the screen.
I tried the cop proffesion and I couldn't handle all of those loading screens.

The Sims 4 loads pretty fast for me but I usually just spend hours making my Sims and then get bored once I started playing them.

It's EA we're talking about, it was ranked the worst gaming company in the US. Do you really think they'velearned from their mistakes?

The only reason why The Sims 4 isn't as good, was because the head the CEO of EA wouldn't greenlight a Sims game unless it was online. He even made that statement public. SimCity happened and then he scrapped the Sims being online, and gave the Maxis a year and 3 months to change an online game to a full Sims title.
The dev team had just over a year to build a sequel, when they had 4 - 5 years for the previous games, using existing tech from the online game.
If EA make a Sims 5, it will have a full development cycle. The new CEO of EA has made amazing decisions. The new Star Wars game looks incredible. He also has allowed games to be delayed, and isn't too focused on the online development.
Basically the previous EA CEO ruined many franchise's due to greed.

Um, the Sims 2 on PS2 would like to argue. The Sims on the PS2 had way better graphics, and had a much better design. The PC version just had higher textures.
and they looked great in-game too;
 ]
Sims 2 PC Sims, had very triangular features (the eyes are extremely jagged), and their faces look weird when they move.

Not gonna lie, I want another online sims game. TSO was done wrong. They should have renovated it with Sims 2 graphics and kept it going somehow. I think a free to play one with a cash shop would do pretty well honestly. I think I just would want it separate from The Sims main franchise series in general though. "Always Online" doesn't work for me for a main installment in a series.

Not necessarily. The Sims 3 was only optimized for a handful of computers configurations at the time. People have found getting a new computer doesn't necessarily make the game work better.
My 2015 Custom built PC that can play GTA 5 on Ultra settings, can't play The Sims 3 lag free or crash free.
My 2008 MacBook can play the Sims 3 at Max settings without any lag or crash issues, but GTA V would fry my MacBook.
Getting a better PC doesn't fix the Sims 3. Getting a PC that the Sims 3 has better optimization on, is the only way to improve performance. Many people are saying newer graphics cards like the GTX 980 are running TS3 terribly.

I know. But if they want our coins, they better give us what we want. The Sims team always listens to their fans. I remember when a lot of simmer kept nagging and moaning for Seasons back few years ago, and they released it. Same with will happen with toddlers eventually. The Sims 4 didn't make as much money as the previous games. Listening to us would profit them greatly.

That's because The Sims 3 doesn't utilize computers to their full potentials. If my PC has 2 terabytes, TS3 wouldn't use all of those bytes or even half of them, unlike other games. The game was built that way, which upset many players including me
