My history may be off, but didn't Katrina progress to a Cat 5 AFTER it hit New Orleans?
EDIT: It WAS a Cat 5, but by the time it hit NO it was a Cat 3.
True and the turn out did have a lot to do with the levees failing and NO being below sea level; however, much of NYC and New Jersey are below sea level as well. That as well as the way the cities are designed would completely **** them.
Big winds here in Toronto and the rain just started coming down hard...we are supposed to be hit with the brunt of it overnight.
I was walking home, and the wind was pushing me back, I could barely walk. I couldn't keep my hood on cause it was blowing it off. And when I tried zipping up my jacket all the way to the top the zipper broke off. FML
I've been watching that since about 11 today and I've seen how badly it's progressed srsly. It's ****ing horrendous. Something's awesome about it though. o__o

I'm watching the NY one and it took a few refreshes for that to work.
There are people walking to Mcdonalds and the Supermarket and the wind/rain is coming hard
