MusicIsGoodForYou's Best of 2009 Thread! Albums 20-13!!
Hello! Welcome to the beginning of my top 20 albums chart! Because it is late and I need to go to bed soon, I'm going to keep these short and to the point, with no album covers. Maybe I'll add them sometime tomorrow. Here are albums 20-13!!
Top 20 Albums of 2009:
20. Paramore - Brand New Eyes
Favorite Track: Careful
Brand New Eyes is a great Rock album. Unexpectedly, some of the songs off of the album sound very Pop/Rock-ish as opposed to Alt./Rock-ish, and the result is great!
19. Wale - Attention Deficit
Favorite Track: Pretty Girls (feat. Gucci Mane & Weensey of Backyard Band)
With so many debut albums released this year from rappers, Wale has made a stand-out. With fun party songs and more serious songs with clever rhymes, Wale conquers many of his fellow freshmen, and even some of his peers!
18. The Lonely Island - Incredibad
Favorite Track: Lazy Sunday (feat. Chris Parnell)
Who knew faking being rappers could turn out to be so good!? With Incredibad, The Lonely Island have teamed up with an odd combination of musicians and comedians (from Jack Black to T-Pain to Natalie Portman!) to form a collection of songs that are great musically, and hilarious lyrically!
17. Rick Ross - Deeper Than Rap
Favorite Track: Maybach Music 2
With Rick Ross' past material, he seemed like a rapper more concerned with beats and flow as opposed to lyrics. However, with Deeper Than Rap, Rick proves that he is a lyrical beast, slaying the likes of 50 Cent, and that he can party it up with sophisticated R&B singers like John Legend and Robin Thicke.
16. Daughtry - Leave This Town
Favorite Track: No Surprise
Daughtry hasn't grown much on Leave This Town from their self-titled debut. But, who cares? With great single-potential songs and the leader No Surpise, Daughtry have empowered the grunge rock sound, and brought it great quality music.
15. Black Eyed Peas - The E.N.D. (The Energy Never Dies)
Favorite Track: I Gotta Feeling
I have been a Pea fan since I've really been into music, and loved all of their past material. But this is just something totally different! The dance/pop direction is still good though, and with it comes some awesome party jams!
14. Flo Rida - R.O.O.T.S.
Favorite Track: Jump (feat. Nelly Furtado)
This album is so similar to The E.N.D. I mean, they both have awesome party jams, and an acronym for a name. But Flo Rida's album has something else over the Peas: Non-Dance songs that are great, like Be On You and Rewind!
13. David Guetta - One Love
Favorite Track: If We Ever (feat. Makeba)
Yet another great Danec album was released in 2009. If I Gotta Feeling didn't already prove it to you, 2009 was THE YEAR for David Guetta as a producer, and an artist too! I mean, he even released an album with great dance beats and awesome collaborators!
Sorry for the very short entries! Now that this has happened, I promise to really bring it with my Top 12 albums of 2009! See you all tomorrow!

MusicIsGoodForYou's Best of 2009 Thread! Albums 12-8!!
Good afternoon everyone! I'm here today to make up for that mess I posted yesterday. Here are albums 12-8!!
Top 20 Albums of 2009:
Recap:
20. Paramore - Brand New Eyes
19. Wale - Attention Deficit
18. The Lonely Island - Incredibad
17. Rick Ross - Deeper Than Rap
16. Daughtry - Leave This Town
15. Black Eyed Peas - The E.N.D. (The Energy Never Dies)
14. Flo Rida - R.O.O.T.S.
13. David Guetta - One Love
12. Three Days Grace - Life Starts Now
Favorite Tracks: World So Cold & Last to Know
Since I first heard Pain, I have loved Three Days Grace's music. And Life Starts Now certainly doesn't disappoint. Break has already seen much success on the Billboard Rock charts, showing the great reception of Life Starts Now, like Three Days Grace's last album One-X. The album has more great hard/alternative rock songs, such as World So Cold, and even some stripped down emotional songs, like Last to Know.
11. The-Dream - Love vs. Money
Favorite Tracks: Right Side of My Brain & Rockin' That **** (Remix) [feat. Fabolous, Juelz Santana, Rick Ross, & Ludacris]
The-Dream's latest masterpiece is definitely one of the best R&B albums I have ever listened to. On this album, The-Dream out out some great jams to party to (like Rockin' That **** and its remix), and some really relaxing songs (such as Right Side of My Brain and Fancy). I hope LoveKing is as good as this!
10. Drake - So Far Gone
Favorite Tracks: Say What's Real & Ignant ****
2009 was the year for Drake. He put out the best mixtape of 2009, and has seen so much success because of it. This mixtape has songs with soulful R&B vibes (A Night Off & Successful), lyrical perfection (Say What's Real & Ignant ****), and even catchy pop tunes (Best I Ever Had). With such a variation of musical styles, Drake is bound to stay a superstar, no matter what crowd he tries to impress!
9. Lady Gaga - The Fame Monster
Favorite Tracks: Dance in the Dark & Speechless
Wait, did I say 2009 was the year for Drake? I definitely meant to say Lady Gaga, and this album made her year even better. The majority of the album is catchy dance anthems like Dance in the Dark and Bad Romance. However, the true genius of Lady Gaga is revealed in Speechless. Her strong voice and the song's piano make Speechless such a dramatic classic, and make The Fame Monster even awesomer!
8. Green Day - 21st Century Breakdown
Favorite Tracks: Restless Heart Syndrome & 21 Guns
With 21st Century Breakdown, Green Day have definitely matched, if not surpassed, the quality of the huge force known as American Idiot. The album features the story of two lovers, living in a politically angry world. The many fast/hard and slow-pop rock songs on the album back up this concept very well, with angry hard rock songs like East Jesus Nowhere and Christian's Inferno, and with slow guitar-driven tunes like 21 Guns and Restless Heart Syndrome.
Anyways, I have to go, but I hope more people comment for this part of the albums, as we quickly approach the top of the chart in two days!! Happy new year everyone!

MusicIsGoodForYou's Best of 2009 Thread! Albums 7-4!!
Happy New Year everyone!! We are already well into my Top 20 albums of 2009, so expect the entries to get longer, and the reviews to be better! Here are #'s 7-4!!
Top 20 Albums of 2009
Recap:
20. Paramore - Brand New Eyes
19. Wale - Attention Deficit
18. The Lonely Island - Incredibad
17. Rick Ross - Deeper Than Rap
16. Daughtry - Leave This Town
15. Black Eyed Peas - The E.N.D. (The Energy Never Dies)

13. David Guetta - One Love
12. Three Days Grace - Life Starts Now
11. The-Dream - Love vs. Money
10. Drake - So Far Gone
9. Lady Gaga - The Fame Monster
8. Green Day - 21st Century Breakdown
7. Adam Lambert - For Your Entertainment
Top 3 Tracks:
1. Broken Open
2. Pick U Up
3. Soaked
2009 has unleashed the pop monster. Many people would think that I'm talking about Lady Gaga, but those people are wrong. The true pop monster is Adam Lambert. Starting off 2009 on American Idol, Adam sang his heart out for the judges, and his fans at home, remaking great songs such as Ring of Fire and Mad World. By the end of Season 9 of American Idol, I wanted to hear much more from Adam. Even though I didn't really like For Your Entertainment and I was just getting into Whataya Want From Me, I ended up buying Adam's album. What a great decision I had made!! The songs on For Your Entertainment go from wild pop outrages (Strut, For Your Entertainment) to powerful ballads with Adam's empowering vocals (Soaked, Time for Miracles) to the beautiful spaced-out Radiohead-esque vibe of Broken Open. Overall, the album is an awesome Pop debut, and it makes me extremely anxious to hear Adam's next album!
6. Kid Cudi - Man on the Moon: The End of Day
Top 3 Tracks:
1. Solo Dolo (Nightmare)
2. Soundtrack 2 My Life
3. CuDi Zone
Man on the Moon: The End of Day gives us a deep look into the mind of a genius. The eclectic beats on songs like Pursuit of Happiness and Day 'n' NIte give the album a very spacey feel. Also, the songs are supposed to be about a downer, but the beats and melodies make many of them uplifting! For example, Soundtrack 2 My Life talks about the growth and life experiences of a sad child, but Cudi's voice lifts up the sad theme, especially when he sings "I've got some issues that nobody can see." In addition, some of the songs on Man on the Moon: the End of Day show much evil emotion. On My World, Cudi croons about his plans to take over our world, and on Solo Dolo, the dark violin and strings, and Cudi singing about acts that "feel so right when [he] know[s] that its wrong" provide a creepily fulfilling mood. Overall, through the rawness of its beats, and the matureness of its lyrics, the deep Man on the Moon: The End of Day completely separates Cudi from the many new rappers to become famous in 2009, and makes him an awesome genre of his own.
5. Eminem - Relapse/Relapse: Refill
Top 3 Tracks:
1. Beautiful
2. My Darling
3. Careful What You Wish For
Eminem is one of the most maniacal, lyrically insane rappers to ever live. He may have taken a long break to get rid of his drug addiction, but he came back with some great material. And the greatness of the material is mostly due to Em's wild lyricism. I mean's Dr. Dre's beats are great, but let's face it, they have never been the highlight of Em's albums. Eminem tries to trace and describe his drug battles on My Mom and Deja Vu, and he find his inner serial killer on songs like 3am and Same Song and Dance. However, to me, Beautiful is on another level when compared to the rest of Relapse. On the song, Eminem describes how depressed Eminem was and how miserable his life still is. At one point in Beautiful, Em even says that no matter how bad we think his life is, it is "110% different" to be living it. But even though the song's topic is extremely depressing, Em leaves us with an inspirational speech, telling us to never let ourselves down. Anyways, Eminem continued to slay with the bonus tracks off of Relapse and the Refill! He battles it out with his alter ego Slim Shady, who mocks Em throughout the entire song. Also, Eminem describes leaving the game on Careful What You Wish For, with a warning for us to "be careful what you wish for, cause you just might get it." Before Relapse was released, I listened to Eminem's past albums, and I really liked them all! And Relapse definitely did not slack. It showed that even after so long, Eminem is the best rapper (lyrically) out there!
4. Bruce Springsteen - Working on a Dream
1. The Last Carnival
2. The Wrestler
3. Outlaw Pete
I've never really listened to Bruce Springsteen's older music. However, I do know Born to Run, and this album evokes the thrill of that track, and empowers it to a different level! On This Life and Surprise, Surprise, Bruce takes advantage of his primely aged voice, and gives the songs a relaxing reminiscence of his past work. On Outlaw Pete, on which Bruce relives the journey of an outlaw with many tempo changes, different instruments, and a killer guitar solo! And on Life Itself and Kingdom of Days, Bruce embodies the same great retro-pop sound shown in my favorite song off of Magic, Girls in Their Summer Clothes. However, my favorites of of Working on a Dream are the rawest, most emotional of them all. On both The Wrestler, armed with just a voice and a guitar, Bruce makes a wonderful ode to Mickey Rourke, showing him as the man who has done all; The man who has fought his whole life, and who is now in more peaceful days. The Last Carnival has only guitar and vocals, like The Wrestler, but invokes much more emotion, partially because it is about Bruce's long time friend, Danny Federici (). In the song, Bruce shows that even though the carnival might continue on without Danny, he will never be forgotten. But the most beautiful part of the song? The end, where a choir leads us out of the Carnival with uplifting vocals emotionally reminiscent of Bruce's message to Danny. Together, these two songs provide a great ending to a wonderful album! Great job Bruce!
Wow, that took long lol! I'll be back tomorrow to reveal my Top 3 albums of 2009, but until then, see ya!!

MusicIsGoodForYou's Best of 2009 Thread! Top 3 Albums!!
Hello! I am very excited to finish my album chart tonight! Let's get straight to it!
Top 20 Albums of 2009:
Recap:
20. Paramore - Brand New Eyes
19. Wale - Attention Deficit
18. The Lonely Island - Incredibad
17. Rick Ross - Deeper Than Rap
16. Daughtry - Leave This Town
15. Black Eyed Peas - The E.N.D. (The Energy Never Dies)
14. Flo Rida - R.O.O.T.S.
13. David Guetta - One Love
12. Three Days Grace - Life Starts Now
11. The-Dream - Love vs. Money
10. Drake - So Far Gone
9. Lady Gaga - The Fame Monster
8. Green Day - 21st Century Breakdown
7. Adam Lambert - For Your Entertainment
6. Kid Cudi - Man on the Moon: The End of Day
5. Eminem - Relapse/Relapse: Refill
4. Bruce Springsteen - Working on a Dream
3. John Mayer - Battle Studies
Top 5 Tracks:
1. Do You Know Me
2. All We Ever Do Is Say Goodbye
3. Heartbreak Warfare
4. Friends, Lovers, or Nothing
5. Assassin
I'm not sure why I love Battle Studies so much. I doubt it is because I really like John Mayer's past music. I mean, I love the intensity of songs like Gravity (intense because of its guitar solo), but none of the songs on here reach such high points of intensity. And I love the emotion shown in songs like Dreaming With a Broken Heart (the emotion is shown through piano and John's touching vocals), but none of the songs on Battle Studies are as emotional as that. However, I find the album as a whole to be extremely relaxing. Despite the main theme of Battle Studies being the negative side of love, the soft guitar and vocals of songs like All We Ever Do Is Say Goodbye and Do You Know Me just makes me feel so satisfied. And the pop appeal of songs like Heartbreak Warfare and Half of My Heart doesn't hurt either! Overall, Battle Studies makes me feel as care-free as John seems on Who Says, and feeling care-free certainly feels great.
2. Dave Matthews Band - Big Whiskey and the GrooGrux King
Top 5 Tracks:
1. Shake Me Like a Monkey
2. Funny the Way Is Is
3. Squirm
4. Time Bomb
5. Seven
I love going to concerts. I love experiencing the music live and feeling the intensity of live performers. With the help of Rob Cavallo, Dave Matthews Band have taken the energy of their live shows and brought it out in Big Whiskey! In tracks like Shake Me Like a Monkey and Squirm, due to loud horns and pounding drums, I can feel the intensity normally shown in DMB's live shows. Dave Matthews also shows his softer side, on songs like Baby Blue and You and Me, with slow power-driven guitar and beautiful vocal melodies. Also, the major presence of sax on the album, as well as the party cut Why I Am makes Big Whiskey a great tribute to LeRoi Moore (). In addition to intense instrumentals and nice melodies, Big Whiskey has some clever lyricism, like on Funny the Way It Is, where Dave reveals the ironic opposites in our world, and on Time Bomb, where Dave talks about his own anger. Overall it is an awesome rock album, in fact the best of 2009!! But what could possibly be better the the best rock album of 2009?
1. Jay-Z - The Blueprint 3
Top 5 Tracks:
1. Already Home (feat. Kid Cudi)
2. Reminder
3. Empire State of Mind (feat. Alicia Keys)
4. Off That (feat. Drake)
5. Real As It Gets (feat. Young Jeezy)/A Star is Born (feat. J. Cole)/Young Forever (feat. Mr Hudson)
A rap album. A rap album has topped my best album chart!?!? Really? Yes. On Blueprint 3, Jay manages to have clever rhymes and stay modern (or as he says on Off That, futuristic). The first two singles from BP3 are good, but the real magic starts when we get to Empire State of MInd. On that track, Jay-Z gives listeners a tour of NYC and shows his NY-attitude, while Alicia Keys belts her heart out to make a wonderful to their city of dreams. Then, Real As It Gets and On to the Next One appeal with their cool beats, and with catchy hooks provided by Jeezy and Swizz Beatz respectively. And with Off That, we take a step into the future, with Jay rapping about what he is off of and what he is onto, while Drake reminds us of this in the chorus with a catchy rap/sung hook. And on A Star is Born, Jay-Z and J. Cole remind us of the success that him and his peers have achieved, and how revolutionary the success is. Later, on Young Forever, Jay raps about always living life up like the days never change, with Hudson providing a greatly sampled hook. However, the albums true highlights are tracks 11 & 13. On Already Home, Jigga raps and Cudder croons about others thinking that they're above Jigga, but he has really paved the way for these rappers, and will always be waiting at the top of the game for them! And Reminder is basically a reminder of this through the raps; That Jay-Z is at the top of the music industry, that his rhymes are ridiculous, that he has always been the best, and Jay-Z definitely proves that with The Blueprint 3.
Well that does it! Hope you have liked my charts! If I don't find enough time for another post, see you all next year! And thanks for the incredible support!!
