After the reunion with Chris Brown, Rihanna has lost most of the respect the public has for her. I know it's her personal life, but people can't be completely objective, and they will disdain her music for that as well

I don't think people realize Katy is involved in her music, but I think they respect her body and her feisty personality, so that helps her case, even if it's not directly related.

I think people also think Rihanna is a puppet like Britney, but she also has an edge to her that people find intriguing. With her hip-hop credibility and her being the female artist most likely to appeal to straight men musically, I'd say she wins, even if Katy is more qualified artistically.

I agree with both. You can't lipsync your way to success and think that people will respect you.

Rihanna's lack of involvement is less known, but still apparent enough to give Katy a slight edge. Whenever Katy goes out with just a guitar, she gets points from the public.

I'd say Britney for obvious reasons.

She's had a much longer career with a much more significant impact. You can't base the fact that you don't agree with her live performance style on how the industry and general public looks at her. Out of all of her peers, including Christina Aguilera, she's the only one that is consistently doing well on the charts, without the help of others. The only artist from this generation to come close to making a dent in the impact Britney has made is Gaga.

The industry respects her. They still play her music on the radio. They still watch her videos. She's still relevant 13+ years later.

OMG this is still going on? Honestly it's Rihanna, then Britney Spears, then Katy Perry. The industry insiders respect Rihanna and she is easily the most talented out of the bunch. Britney is a Grammy award winning artist but I'd say she was more respected in her prime (around the time of the In the Zone era). Katy Perry isn't seen as talented but more like a bubblegum pop hit factory by the GP. She does have songs that deserved more (I.e. Teenage Dream and E.T.) but she will never be respected more than Rihanna and Britney because their music had more substance - Everytime and Love the Way You Lie (well actually the entire Rated R album too) have substance that Katy Perry just cannot deliver. I am a big fan of all three though and believe all three are talented and deserving of their success.

Among the people involved in pop music industry including the popstars - both vet and new ones,I think Britney.A lot of them acknowledge her influence irrespective of other things.Among the public,umm..I don't think any of the people will reply with 'Yes,I do' if they're asked whether they have 'respect' for any of these 3 popstars. But well,I know that it's DEFINITELY not Britney.People don't even think she posseses the intelligence of an average human being,let alone thinking of her as some capable musician.So it's either Rihanna or Katy.I've voted Rihanna cause straight men aren't embarassed to say they like her or have her music,atleast collaborations,in their iPods(I know that it doesn't exactly signify respect,but well.)Can't say the same about Katy,even though she's more of an 'artist'.
