Well then only 4 of Rihanna's albums, even though SOS was notable for making a tremendous jump to #1 on the Hot 100 based off of its digital performance, all before the release of B'Day.

It doesnt matter. If you are gonna say that Rihanna premiered in the digital age of 2005 then the argument goes for everyone. Beyonce was already established in the digital age. Or else we are gonna count for 2008-onwards.

Single ladies was the first full r&b song to cross the 4 million mark. :weep: and I think it's the only one?

Does this include features or just solo sales? Cuz I had no idea Lil Wayne sold so much singles.

Yes, by 1.7 million back in January. Selling more isn't necessarily the point, though. Beyonce digital sales are not impressive. 4 had immense promotion and none of the singles could even reach Platinum, here. Hence why some people are convinced Rihanna might be the worst, because her sales are typically modest for their idea of what she should be. That's fine for your viewpoint, though, it's obv your fave!

Negative. "Womanizer" and "Circus" are 3.2 and 2.9 million now, "Circus" will be 3 million in some weeks, both more than FF era single sales. Even "Gimme More" and "Piece of Me" have sold more than "HIAM" and "IWG". Nevertheless, her digital sales are fascinating with the standards, very consistent. You can see them in the first page.

Anyways, the answer is Beyonce. She only has "Single Ladies," after that the sales are mediocre, including several Gold certifications for major singles.
Britney single sales are consistent and impressive, especially given the quality of the promotion, when it is done.
1,713,000, "Gimme More"
1,770,000, "Piece of Me"
712,000, "Break the Ice"
3,298,000, "Womanizer"
2,966,000, "Circus"
1,255,000, "If U Seek Amy"
510,000, "Radar"
2,225,000, "3"
1,520,000, "Hold It Against Me"
2,638,000, "Till the World Ends"
1,592,000, "I Wanna Go"
200,000, "Criminal"
Others:
1,815,000, "Toxic"
511,000, "...Baby One More Time"
475,000, "Everytime"
465,000, "Oops!... I Did It Again"
416,000, "I'm A Slave 4 U"
374,000, "My Prerogative"
363,000, "Do Somethin'"
281,000, "Me Against The Music"
270,000, "Stronger"
226,000, "Lucky"
Plus you'll see not many pre-digital era artist have that many catalog sales (didn't include many). This will only continue to grow given her legacy and upcoming Glee episode will boost a lot of these (8 songs being performed this time, I believe).
It's rather unfair to even include the two B's, they both started in the 90s. The fact the two of them are amongst the top ten digital singles sellers is commendable and far from disappointing in any case. Especially compared to their veteran contemporaries.
|
But wasn't there recently a post about how a lot of both Brit and Bey's stuff weren't certified?
I don't think their sales are all that bad.

Yet you claim Beyoncé's are mediocre even though she's sold more digital records than Britney overall even with 4 underperforming?
And I was comparing FF's digital sales to 4s, not her older albums. Girl Beyoncé has multiple digitals sellers in the 2/3 millions just like Britney does and even higher ones at that, lol.

Single Ladies (one song) has outsold ALL of Britney single sales, that's very impressive.

She is the most pirated artist though, so it's not like she doesn't have the numbers, a lot are just not legit since they are illegal.

If it was pirated, it doesn't count.

I know, which is why I said her numbers are extremely impressive considering she is the most pirated artist, though that is her fault at times i.e. not releasing the Birthday Cake (Remix) digitally when sales would have shot through the roof.
