Right? I think the past few years have proven that it doesn't matter what you look like or do as long as your music is catchy enough. And isn't that what Adam aims for with his releases? Maybe his music + personality is just that unappealing.

I don't think that. I respect his style but I don't like it, I don't use it and I'm not homophobic, or have prejudices. I see his point but he's completely blowing it out of proportion.

But what about the nerve of some people calling his music terrible when their faves released albums this year that got a Metacritic score at least 10 points below or so than Adam's debut? and his sophomore not being leaked yet

he must have read my comments in the gay pop star thread yesterday
i see no lies. homos listen to 90% female artists instead of supporting the many gay male artist trying to break through
but at the same time gay male artists need to evolve from drag queen stereotypes and start doing something new and fresh

You'd think the gay community would embrace an openly gay, male popstar, but it's, unfortunately, quite the opposite. Gay men might be gay, but they're still men and the whole "dominance" thing is still there and it's natural for one man to dislike another man succeeding.

Well said.

I don't like Adam because I think that in the early stages of his career, he used his homosexuality as a PR vehicle and tried to push it off as being edgy and expressive. He is entirely contrived to me.
What he is saying does makes sense - but pop consumers are catty as a whole. That's why gossip is a billion dollar industry. People, both gay and straight are going to have many conflicting opinions about him and that's just it. Just because he is the only gay man in pop does not make me obligated to support him - I am still able to build my own opinion on him as an artist based on my perceptions of his behavior regardless of what his sexuality is.

Yes, but when the Scissor Sisters cranked up the "gay" in their music/image (in Night Work), they flopped.

But why if I say this at some Gaga thread (for example) I will get warning points? Can a mod explain this to me?

I agree with what he said.
And LOL at some people in this thread saying hes music is trash when they're praising "artist" that sings the same weak "lyrics" over and over again with some generic sounds and then call it "EPIC"!. Seriously lol Sit Down. Hes first album did good critically and me as well as others liked it. And based on the snippets of hes new album, it sounds great too.

Gay have a lot of self hatred. We hate on each other so much. We're so bitter and mean. I think we need need to have a conversation about it. There are so many issues in our community that we don't address Logo should do a series on it.

His opinion that Adam's music is trash is relevant to the thread.

Alright so when someone asks "Why do people hate on BTW so much?" and I say it's because it's TRASH you and the other mods better not give me any Warning Points, since it "is relevant to the thread".

If he was successful, everyone would be kissing his ass and calling him iconic. But, since he isn't big, people call his music trash. I swear, ATRL is the most biased site. No one stans for quality, you all stan for success and fame. I like his debut, not enough to become a fan, but enough to buy it. Trespassing looks like it will be a good album as well. Keep doing the most, ATRL.

It's easy to write this off because of who it's coming from, but if you just look at what he's saying, it's not a lie.

Actually it's all the way around, see Katy & Gaga they were loved when they weren't that successful now that they are, they get hate in industrial quantities.

I don't think Adam Lambert's music is atrocious, but I don't think he is anything to brag about. I loved that a gay male artist was seeing success, but his music fell flat. On top of that, I think he is a bit of a mess at times. He has the potential, I think, to be much better. This is why I am not a huge Adam Lambert fan. He just doesn't excite me, musically

Right, because Justin Bieber is ATRL's most loved male artist!

People are allowed to think music is good even if metacritic doesn't and vice-versa
Maybe he's not more popular because his music isn't that good people don't care for it. This is just personal experience, but at my junior prom, the DJ put on "For Your Entertainment" and the dancefloor literally cleared before the chorus and the DJ said "Woah, I've never seen the dancefloor clear so fast" and changed the song. It's not about who he is or what he is, it's about the music, in my eyes.
