A bit meh?
They are so truly Adam Levine, and they so totally picture his failed relationship

.
It's a bit of a riddle generally with songwriters to try to picture all details of their living experiences through a song, but that rarely happens with Adam: in a way knowing what Adam and Anne V were up to these two years (through twitter posts of them, and their relationship chronicles) make his absolute clear references to this true lived experience a plus in the lyrics, if any?
Certainly to his fans it makes obvious he is using (again) writing as a break-up therapy (and that generally produces marvels when the relationship was long enough to affect im for real (well... from the little you can guess from public figures... hoping they are not lying through everything they let slip out to the waiting world, of course

).
This song was recorded middle of January and it pictures very well the moment when you start to get something is inevitably lost and rotten in your coupling.
I think the lyrics are very real and angsty yet you can feel there was still some hope along the blame and regret there, before it all fell down completely.
In the pop world (I mean, he's not Thom Yorke or Billy Corgan or anything... he makes songs for the masses after all) these are real lyrics, and it's a good thing?
Anyway I long for the track he did along Ryan Tedder of One Republic around October because those (then he was happy in the relationship with Anne V) are gonna be the loving ballads of a happy heart and I sense a new She Will Be Loved coming

.
But if you are not into Adam's personality and openess, then I guess you can be unaffected by the lyrics, which is totally okay by the way.
You are entitled to

.
I could never... especially the way his voice renders them... he makes me feel all he sings, when he wants to.

and I love that so much about him
