She wins so many Huge awards. Grammy's, country artist of the year etc. I just don't get it
Her singles are meh. But the album tracks & unreleased songs are 'GOOD'. With her, you just gotta look a little deeper than anything's on the surface that's being served to you by media.
Her latest album showed something. No matter how happy the songs in it, there's a constant reminder in EVERY song that something good won't last and you gotta appreciate what you have right now.
*listening to Never Grow Up again* *looking for tissue*
22 but her songs sound like they were made for a 13 year old middle school girl. Her music is nice but I just don't see what sets her better than all the other country stars.
One small thing that peeps tend to forget, she can jump easily from one genre to another without sounding awkward.
Again, her ****** singles are not her best songs. Listen to the whole album.
I'll give her 3 to 4 years to create something that will make me hail her like a queen (according to the usual artist transformation timeline standard).

What is mature music for you then? How are Rolling In The Deep, Set Fire To The Rain, One and Only and Someone Like You for 13 yearold girls? Now you're just saying the first thing that comes to your mind.

I was talking about Taylor Swift, someone from this thread sent me songs from her album though and they sound A LOT more mature than her singles though so I retract my statement.
Maybe you are right about the growth i'm not sure I only really listen to her singles haven't dug into her albums so I can't truly say but from what I have listened to so far I don't see any. And even from that her lyrics are still a bit young but i'm glad to know that she does write them herself. Maybe she's still just young at heart
She's not a bad lyricist. She's clearly not aiming for a typical rhyming scheme while writing. Her emphasis is on conveying a message in a way that is sincere and that resonates with her listeners and she does it exceedingly well. Perhaps you are accustomed to Pop artists who make great efforts to impress with their many allusions, references, and their random use of foreign languages. Oooh, religious imagery. Bold. For example, Lady Gaga was so caught in trying to pen her anthem about equality that she threw in the line about "chola and Orient made," reaching for something that was pleasing on the ears, and yet failed to realize that "chola" is a racial slur and Asians do not consider themselves "Orient" and most find that term offensive. Items, such as a rug, are Orient. People are not.
Both of the above songs are great. From the messages of the songs and the tone of both, they show great maturity. The lyrics are not overly complex, but they don't have to be. That actually would not make them better, because they are perfectly appropriate as they are.
So gaga is supposedly flopping, radio isn't here for her anymore, videos are a mess, songs aren't radio friendly, she's too preachy, etc etc.....but she is overrated?
