I'd get rid of everything after The Voice Within, and Make Over. Really, truly, three tracks that define the word B-SIDE. But the R&B cuts have to say! (Although, they are SERIOUSLY dated now and that will reflect in the scoring.)

So, Dangerously in Love was not what I expected. I haven't listened to it in full in a number of years, and aside from a couple of exceptional standouts, it didn't really excite me. Many of the songs I used to love were not as a special as I remembered. And though a couple of the album tracks that I used to skip over surprised me with how good they actually are, too much of it was just generically decent R&B. Maybe listening to 4 for the first time last week spoiled me, but I was really struck by far Beyonce's career has come artistically. That album has all the heart and soul and gravitas of a woman who has truly lived life, whereas it's clear to me now how much Dangerously in Love is the work of a girl.

I think that's why I've come to admire it - it does sound like the work of a 21 year old young woman. I think, again, this album should have had ten tracks MAX (the first nine and Summertime, natch) but I really love it? Or at least appreciate it.
