The feminist movement has always been around? She hasn't started anything? Like stop being an idiot for one second
1st. Always been around? lol yeah loved how strong the feminist movement in the middle age was
2nd. I wasn't talking about the feminist movement in general. Just this wave we've been feeling since last year. Learn how to read properly you illiterate ****
It's only a matter of time before Meryl Streep and Jennifer Aniston play mother and
daughter in a critically-acclaimed film, with Aniston winning an Oscar for her performance.
Fellow Hive are extremely ignorant if they claim Beyoncé started a feminist movement. She didn't. Feminism movements are an on-going process and its roots date back to as early in 1848. Iconic historic women and groups such as Mary Wollstonecraft, the Suffragettes, Elizabeth Stanton, Margaret Thatcher, Hilary Clinton are all arguably more important feminists than Beyoncé could and ever will be. However, she DID popularise feminism in Pop Culture. Wouldn't really call it a movement, more so a trend. Hence why classes in notorious American universities are being made for her.
In one of my classes last year we were discussing Feminism and as a starting point the tutor had us discuss whether the Drunk in Love video was pro or anti feminist. To say Beyonce single-handedly popularized Feminism is utterly ridiculous but she's definitely a feminist icon.
On a side-note the amount of girls who said they disliked or even hated feminism was shocking

She's most definitely a feminist icon but you can't really say she didn't popularise feminism in Pop Culture. I'm not saying she single-handedly popularised it, but she was definitely one of the biggest reasons it became such a topic of discussion this year.

I don't think the majority of the Hive even believes that
Beyoncé never cared enough about feminism to talk about it with any depth. Like, what are her opinions? What she stands for? Has she ever actively gave us a piece of her mind about feminist subjects? Appearing on a stage in a leotard with FEMINIST written in pink at the background doesn't make you a feminist icon.
I didn't say Beyoncé started the feminist movement like y'all tripping.
HOWEVER she did popularize the concept and (re)started the talk around it. Everyone's being asked about feminism nowadays and the movement has picked up steam lately. And it wasn't like that 2 years ago I'm sorry but it wasn't.
