I think it's more that Judas got bad press, boo bear.
I mean, even before the song or video came out, the Catholics were already all over that. Then, religious people are naturally pretty stupid (really, no offense to religious folk on here, but I mean, there certainly are people like that) and anything that says, "Still in love with Judas," is going to offend them.
I mean, pop music have very limited parameters. It has to be literal or the point is pretty much above their heads.
