You're completely correct. Also: mods have nothing to do with this upgrade. It's all on the owner/admins. It seems like the staff is huge but all we do is moderate threads and posts. We are very sorry about the length of time spent on the upgrade but we're just as annoyed and stressed as the rest. If ATRL wasn't so unique and custom-built this wouldn't be a problem. Damn us for being so amazing
Clearly you know nothing about the difficulties involved in jumping 2 versions ahead of the software they use.
If I'm wrong I apologize. But ATRL uses VB3. They want to upgrade to VB5, which is still in beta (meaning there are still enough glitches that it doesn't need to be used on a live site). They could go to VB4, but that'll also require losing a lot of the custom features/extensions that is currently used on ATRL. And they'd just have to port it over to VB5 anyway.
There's a lot of work to do with scripting, making sure any extra features they use is compatible with VB5 and any server specific requirements (such as PHP or Perl or whatever). So there's a lot that goes into it. It's not like they can just push a button and everything will be magically done.
Add to that that they're having to do this work on their own. That means not only learning what needs to be done, but working through trial and error. I understand the frustration, but as someone who manages dedicated servers in addition to the ones I run my websites on, it's not something that can be rushed.

Coding is time-consuming, especially when there is just one person working on our whole site upgrade.
1) They wouldn't need members to buy ATRL+ if the heathens hadn't cost them their ads for an extended period of time.
2) The server is MUCH better than what it was a few months ago, thanks to the work of the admins and whoever it was they hired to help fix it (and i'm sure that was expensive)
I dunno how much Hivelocity or whoever they use charges, but some low-end tech support elsewhere charge by the half-hour. I understand your frustration, but people need to remember that posting on ATRL is not a right, it's a privilege. The owner could easily say "**** it. I'm out" and then we'll all have to go join UKMix or Popoverdose or some ****.
Your money was already used on blackjack and hookers. Sorry.

well, the server is better than it was in the summer, it's okay now Coding takes time, a lot of time, so I don't blame the admins for taking it so long if the money is clearly used for that purpose
but clearly, the new rules, especially for the blogs section need to be changed

The mods are TRULY ruthless with bans.
Last year, I was banned on CHRISTMAS. Like ****ing really.
And then in July they banned me 3 days before my BIRTHDAY. smh!
That was vB4 - I know very well that's been purchased.
What's not adding up? The fact that it took a little time? You're going to feel so silly once the upgrades do come, because there's no behind-your-back spending of all your money going on. It's going to the site. I know this pretty darn well.
I will be patient. You are a good sis so I'll take your word on it. It's just frustrating seeing so many great things promised and none happening while more things are being taken away. We shall see.
