100 BEST SONGS EVER · #36 - 33
♫"We been keeping it PG but I wanna get a little frisky. Come gimme some of that yum like a lollipop, let me set you free."♫ | 36 · KE$HA, "C'Mon"
Debut Date: January 12, 2013
Weeks on Chart: 9 Weeks
Peak Position: #05
Ke$ha made it to the Top 40 once again for the fifth consecutive year with the catchy bop "C'Mon". I was a big fan of "Die Young" so I expected a lot from its follow up. Good thing, Ke$ha did not disappoint. It might not be as strong and remarkable as her previous efforts but it has its own charm. It's decent, pleasing and catchy. Sadly, this is Ke$ha's sole entry on the list this year. Well at least it's a Top 40 scorer.
FLASHBACK
2012: ED SHEERAN, "Drunk"
2011: SIMPLE PLAN f/ NATASHA BEDINGFIELD, "Jet Lag"
2010: ELLIE GOULDING, "The Writer"
2009: 2NE1, "I Don't Care"
|
♫"One second I'm a Koons, then suddenly the Koons is me. Pop culture was in art, now art's in pop culture in me."♫ | 35 · LADY GAGA, "Applause"
Debut Date: August 31, 2013
Weeks on Chart: 14 Weeks
Peak Position: #01[1]
Gaga returns to the music scene through "Applause". The first time I heard this track, I was actually disappointed. I just find it forgettable - it has no recall. But after a couple of spins, I finally appreciated the beauty of this song. Good lyrics, infectious beats, commendable production, catchy hooks and impressive vocals. It might not be a remarkable Gaga track but definitely a good comeback single.
FLASHBACK
2012: JASON MRAZ, "I Won't Give Up"
2011: LMFAO f/ LAUREN BENNETT & GOONROCK, "Party Rock Anthem"
2010: JASON DERULO, "Ridin' Solo"
2009: WONDER GIRLS, "Nobody"
|
♫"And maybe it goes on and on and on and on when me and you party together. I wish this night would last forever, ever, ever."♫ | 34 · WILL.I.AM f/ BRITNEY SPEARS, "Scream And Shout"
Last Year: Wannabe #171
Debut Date: December 8, 2012
Weeks on Chart: 9 Weeks
Peak Position: #02
Of all the singles Britney released for the past two years, I actually think this one is the best. will.i.am did a great job producing this surefire electronic dance hit, and of course Britney did a good job as well in delivering her verses. This song might not convey any message, but at least it was able to make its listeners enjoy.
FLASHBACK
2012: RIHANNA, "You Da One"
2011: CHRISTINA PERRI, "Jar Of Hearts"
2010: RIHANNA f/ DRAKE, "What's My Name"
2009: 2NE1, "Fire"
|
♫"Fifth, you see them out with someone else. And the sixth, is when you admit you may have ****ed up a little."♫ | 33 · THE SCRIPT, "Six Degrees Of Separation"
Last Year: Wannabe #124
Debut Date: November 10, 2012
Weeks on Chart: 6 Weeks
Peak Position: #01[1]
The Script makes a re-appearance on the list through this heartbreaking track. During the time it was released, I admit i didn't appreciate it well. I actually thought it lacked the charisma the band's previous efforts had. However, a friend's addiction to the song led me to appreciating it as well. I even remembered one night where I spent researching the principle of "six degrees of separation".
FLASHBACK
2012: RIHANNA, "Where Have You Been"
2011: TAYLOR SWIFT, "The Story Of Us"
2010: JUSTIN BIEBER f/ USHER, "Somebody To Love (Remix)"
2009: JASON MRAZ f/ COLBIE CAILLAT, "Lucky"

Don't love any songs from this set, but Scream & Shout and C'mon are the best here by far
