This story has been brought up so many times here. I remember researching it a couple years ago when I first heard about it. It really is a strange story. Like obviously she's having some type of mental meltdown or psychosis, and the whole elevator thing is just mind-boggling. But the real mystery still remains of how she even got UP onto the roof of the hotel, let alone INSIDE the water tank.
Apparently, there is only one way to the roof and it's always locked for security reasons. If I remember correctly, the only person with a key to roof access was the head custodian or something. They interviewed him and the people close to/under him and they said his story checked out. And the roof access and water tank were both still locked when they found her weren't they?
That hotel has a history of murderers and criminals staying there, and I've even heard of "paranormal activity" going on there, so this wasn't the only instance of something strange happening.
I'd be real interested to visit it, but idt I could ever stay a night there.

Oh my gooood I forgot about that movie! I saw it years ago when I was going through my japanese horror phase.
Kind of here for it. I hope they use a lot of real info regarding Cecil Hotel. The elevator re-enactment scene should be interesting.
