But it's funny that, no matter how successful GaGa is right now, being called queen of all universeS by her fans, they still are so threatened by, err, the poor Britney Spears - Yeah, same girl who's living in her own world while performing in Australia and most likely doesn't even know when this or that is being released.

I'm a britney fan myself but lets get real here, Lady Gaga puts more effort into her career and Britney doesn't do s*it and everyone including her fans are getting really tired of it

You're mostly right. Britney basically doesn't give a **** right now and GaGa is putting more effort into her career. Hence why I don't get why her fans are so bothered by Britney - she's clearly not "on the game" right now.
It all got worse after '3' hit #1 on the Hot 100... But it's not Britney's fault '3' did something 'Bad Romance' didn't (yet, cause well, who knows)... Although I also don't understand what's the problem when GaGa has had 4 consecutive huge digital sellers. :-/

This isn't the point of the current discussion. RIGHT NOW, Gaga is putting more effort on her career than Britney and she should really, Britney has a consolidated career, she doesn't need to put much effort to develop it, she achieved a lot of things many would only dream about it, she could have even retired if she wanted to, the fact is that Britney Spears will only be over when SHE DECIDES SHE'S OVER, Whatever she pulls out, that will be people to eat that up and that's fact (don't come with TSC sales, cause it just doesn't fit here, yes, the album flopped, so what? It's a Greatest Hits compilation with only one song that has been a hit, Just remember "Blackout" was able to give her a Top 3 Hot 100 hit and two international successful hits -- Gimme More and Piece Of Me, and she was in her best moment - AKA her image was extremely damaged and she was putting much less "effort" than she is right now), The fact that Gaga is CURRENTLY one of the most popular musicians just show she has worked in order to it, but she has to work harder to keep relevant through the years, Britney is already estabilished as a global cultural icon, and although Gag stans might say she is more than that (Yes, I know you'd say that), she's not, and she has to prove to be relevant for the next years in order to achieve the undeniable position Britney has for pop music.

And so are you accusing people of having predicted TSC sales... Didn't you say that ALL of us said TSC would do a 100k? If you can generalize and I can do it too!

True. I shouldn't have generalized, I should've just quoted people for saying it. I'm just aggravated at most of the Britney fans on here and their ****** ways. I apologize.

Ok so just because she is an established act that means she should put no effort forth into her career?
Madonna was well established after her TRUE BLUE album yet she still went out there and put a lot of effort into her career. She continued to do amazing tours, amazing videos, sang live, promoted her ass off and actually gave a s*it. Same goes for Janet, Mariah, Michael Jackson and just about everyone else that has reached her status. Britney hasn't in the past 4 years. She sleep walks through tours, doesn't do interviews, doesn't perform live, doesn't dance to her capablities, is in no way involved in creating her albums or songs, makes mediocre videos, and doesn't even perform at award shows anymore. It's like, if you dont want to do this anymore then you need to get the hell out of the business. The only reason I truly believe she is still keeping up this charade is because its in her contract and they will sue her ass if she disobeys them. Another reason is because her camp has her so drugged up and tied up in courts to keep her from endangering herself and her kids that they know that keeping her in this is the only way she will survive.
It's sad what has become of her. She has really let the pressures of stardom and the press get to her and I always thought she was way stronger than that. She will never be the same person ever again and as a fan thats really unfortunate. Gone are the days of interaction between her and her fans, big and grand dance routines and Britney as a free spirit. It's all gone and its really sad.

I get your point and agree really. Britney doesn't do what she used to for 5 years, but what I meant is that her career can't develop more than it has, really, she has to put an effort on keeping what she has conquered through this short period of 10 years, but the comparation between how Gaga and Britney have been working for me is different since Gaga has to estabilish herself and this is the effort she is doing, while Britney has already estabilished herself years ago...

I agree with that you say about Lady Gaga; She is cool and I like her and im a fan but she won't last long because her music just won't appeal to everyone after a while. But back to Britney....
The only advantage that Britney really has in all of this is that she has a chance to really do some amazing things because her camp has really set the bar so low for her all of these years and she still has plenty of opportunities to:
- Make her creative peak album (Madonna 'Ray of Light', Christina 'Stripped', MJ 'Thriller')
- Experiment with new sounds, and write and sing the way she wants to with her full voice, which she hasn't done yet
- Make creative videos from her own ideas that really show off what she can do as a performer
There are plenty of really amazing things that she hasn't gotten to accomplish yet in her career and that is just to name a few. I would really like to see her come into her own with her next album or even the one after that. She is going to have to change things up and put effort into career if she wants to last because right now the only thing keeping her alive are her hardcore fans and after a while thats not gonna be enough

Well, You can't say that Britney never contributed to her own music, not the way Gaga or Madonna or MJ have done, but "In The Zone" for example sounded a lot different than the previous 3 albums, it had tracks she wrote (with collaborators, but yet she did it) and not to mention that if you look back to interviews (with video and tour directors) they say she has contributed with ideas and such ("Everytime" music video, "Anticipating" and "Slave" performances on DWAD tour, "BOMT" Cabaret Remix at ONYX Tour, etc.), Yet, I agree with you that she could (and should) participate a little more on her career. I think what she has built so far is enough to keep her around for at least the next five years, after, only time (and her) will tell us that...

Exactly. "In the Zone" was the last time she tried (I'm pretty sure she even sang live during some performances, though maybe I'm wrong). I love her death still, and I went to the Circus Tour and everything, but I still would love if she tried a little harder now and then.

It's even more sad considering her #1 on the Hot100. Come on... no excuses. She flopped HARDLY.

Next week's debuts based on one-day sales:
Bon Jovi - 140-150k
Flyleaf - 50-55k
Switchfoot - 40-45k
Dashboard Confessional - 35-40k

They take what they've sold in one day and predict from that how much they think said artist will sell the rest of the week.

I really don't like this statement. Whether you love or hate Lady GaGa (or feel both ways like I do), you can't deny she's the next queen of pop. The songs we've heard so far from Monster only cement that even more. It's so obvious and I hate that people have to be so pigheaded about it. It doesn't mean Britney won't be successful anymore, she just won't be THE pop phenom anymore. Same thing happened with Madonna when Britney came around.

Part of me wants to rub in the fact that Celebration's opening numbers were much higher since people were quick to mention how poorly "Celebration" did in comparison to "3," but I also think that might be the reason people predicted TSC to open with better numbers.
