They can stay mad. Regardless of Azealia lack of mainstream media's cheesy support. Azealia is a quality musical artist. She has a musical narrative and vision that is hers. She can rap and sing (even switch into Spanish) She just has a lot of depth to her work. Haters can hate.
And her opinions on things aren't even that wrong. She states a lot of truth. The only people that seem to be bothered are people that rally behind identities that want to be defined by. The Stan. The Gay. The White. It's done and dead.
Wow, Just read her tweets from last night... how can anyone stan for that? The generalizations, homophobia, reinforcing stereotypes, separating everything into race... The b*tch is nuts. It's funny how some of you guys are just going along with it too. Okay so she doesn't want to be called a b*ch, but it's okay for her to call gay men f*gs? NO HONEY.
I like her because she's unfiltered , raw , real and says it as it is , some may be bothered by this but I live for it
and her music is amazing , what's not to like lmao
As I mentioned before, Metacritic scores ≠ sales or success.
...Right, I know that. Everyone knows that, because we're all literate. Metacritic scores aren't sales, they're Metacritic scores. They're still a valid receipt of critical acclaim, just like placement on year-end lists.
I just can just as easily say "Well everyone can make a radio hit and get sales but not everyone can get critical acclaim!" It's a moot point. They're different things, one doesn't disqualify the other.
You can't decide that just because a particular receipt doesn't favor your artist, it's completely invalid. Just take the victory you have and move on.
I liked her in the beginning, like during 2012, but then she turned into such a brat on twitter and she became so annoying, so i stopped stanning for her completly. I cant stand her at all anymore.
I don't understand the point of them posting those metacritic scores...
I mean it's not making the album push any units...So..
The entire point people are making is that even if the album isn't pushing units, they and the critics like it more than other albums.
Why are y'all having such a hard time with this? You literally have Tinashe in your signature, you should be all on board with defending acclaimed albums that didn't sell a massive amount
Misogony in gay culture is actually a huge thing and in a way even more hurtful because most gay men know what it's like to be treated terrible for a thing that's completely normal and fine but they still choose to do it anyway. I believe women have the right to call out gay men on that and should do because it doesn't matter what your sexuality is, it still perpetrates misogony and that's in no way ok.
You and Azealia shouldn't clump gay men into one group. Gays are not hive minded. The notion that gay men are this one collective conscious really sets us back. All gay men are into the same music, same fashion, same food, and etc. Do not assume that because a person is gay that he is going want to go shopping or date your gay uncle from Kansas. Likewise, don't assume that he has this profound knowledge of the world because he experienced mistreatment. Empathy isn't a learned skill. Not everyone, gay or straight, can sit down and think that because they went through one experience that it can relate to another group of people who experienced something a little similar. Azealia assumes gay culture doesn't embrace women the way she likes yet really isn't doing anything to change it. She's campaigning for gays to get called ***'s because somehow that makes it okay. Now what if I said women are so homophobic towards gay men?
Azealia is fighting for the right to use the f word, like an angry white person trying to get away with the N word because 'black people don't own the word, always with the victim card.'
She actually did good for an indie artist with zero promo. She charted on iTunes and Billboard.
But why are you throwing in Metacritic scores, showing that Broke With Expensive Taste has a higher score than The New Classic? It's obvious that The New Classic is way far ahead when it comes to selling and producing hit singles, and when it's all said and done, it's going to be about the sales and the success of the album, not the score that the album got on Metacritic. So it's a bit illogic to post Metacritic scores and compare them in any way.

The word is "illogical" and yes, TNC is ahead in sales and BWET is ahead on Metacritic...that's kind of the point...you can compare things on different merits. This is music. Have you really not realized there's an entire world of non-popular music out there by now? There's plenty of music that lives on for decades without selling well.

In the end of what tho? I'm just showing the critical favor between the two. The media can get people to buy into anything. Especially a white woman doing rap. Mainstream media is is all about white supremacy. Iggy's another tool to support that.
You can have her sales and singles. Good for her. Radio's not my in my region of care. Sorry, not sorry. I just listen to quality music. And I know you have your taste. I have mine. I like Azealia Banks

But it still had nothing to do with this thread tho. You Azealia stans stay posting that screencap as if it means something. I'm all on board for defending acclaimed albums that don't sell much.
But ya'll chose the WRONG time & place to post that BS.
When it has nothing to do with the thread at hand.
