ohhhhhhh and the rihanna album too she was huge this year with umbrella but thats all. and talking about singles I think that "Doi It" of the "HUGE" nelly furtado is flopping so bad.

as far as major flops go...it would be kelly clarkson and hilary duff. i don't understand why people have named kat deluna, sean kingston, mandy moore, or kelly rowland--these singers are either too new (and gimmicky) to have established a solid fanbase or have not had a history of selling well with prior releases. Also, i think it might be a bit early but I seriously think 50's new album is a bigger dud than Kelly's. His sales are shrinking fast! His last two albums went 8 and 6 platinum, but Curtis looks like it might not even make it to 2x platinum. the album has been received poorly by both critics and fans and none of the singles are making any impact. It is now on it's third week and it looks like it still hasn't sold a million.

If you haven't caught on, a lot of people here are under the impression that they are marketting-gurus. This is the perfect topic for them to input their years of experience in music promotion.

And though sales figures may not always translate to the quality of the work in conversations here, it often does translate into starting points to either praise an artist or downright blast them. I find it most funny when some great artists are ridiculed over here b/c they fail to garner the high sales that are now often obtained through the release of radio shlock that media-grubby radio-hopping hounds fall for

Anyways, people must have a construed opinion was to wut a "flop" is. "My December's" chart run isn't even over yet, neither is the project as whole. I bet you all wouldn't dare say "I'm Not Dead" is a flop would you? These are the same people who said "Back 2 Basics" is a flop. thing is that american life was released when albums sales still was at a normal level....another classic drop is Pink, from "mizzundastood" that sold like 5,5 milion copies, to "try this" with around 700k!!...also released when album sales was normal.....those are two of the biggest flopdrops i can think of

Outkast dropped from 11 million [Speakerboxxx/The Love Below] to 2 million [Idlewild], but that was a double-album, so it's actually 6 million to 2 million [and I don't believe Idlewild sold that much to begin with.]
