Alright, lets start off with the worst list. While naming Mariah as the worst singer ever is kinda offbase(and Axl Rose, can't forget Axl...or Simon LeBon, for that matter), it's not like they're ENTIRELY wrong. J-Lo is a terrible singer, so is James Blunt. Rod Stewart is SEVERELY overrated(yes, even pre-1972). And why the hell is Liam Gallagher on the BEST list? Are they deaf over there at The Word?
On the other hand, their best list isn't bad at all. Sam Cooke and Jeff Buckley had two of the greatest voices ever, and Whitney Houston was, in her prime, incredible. But there is one person missing from the best list and that is Freddie Mercury. I don't care what some of you say, for my money, he had as powerful of a voice as anyone to ever sing into a microphone.
So yeah, that's my two cents.

Eh, "Crying" is uneffective and kind of boring really... listen to the version "Llorando" by Rebekah Del Rio. Now that's emotional.

Honestly, even though I don't completely agree with some of the article's choices, I understand what they mean. Singing is about much more than sounding pretty, screeching, and thousands upon thousands of melismas every time you sing a line, it's about conveying an emotion and feeling the song you are singing, and I for one really haven't seen Mariah do that. She also can't sing live, at least not in the past several years that I've seen. Don't get me wrong, she has good control of her voice and a great range (not as much as she did in that past), but that's really all she has going for her vocal-wise. Though she's definently not the WORST singer [C'mon people, Hilary Duff? Rihanna? Many many others?] she's not the best by any means.
And yeah, where the hell is Freddie Mercury? Robert Plant? Ann Wilson? Hell, even Janis? Were they even considered for best? And why is Gerard Way left out of the worsters list? I mean, he may be more recent, but come OOON.

I can't believe.....i agree with this.
Mariah used to be one of the best singers but recently she has changed....hey she has the best VOICE i agree with that but she isn't the best singer live, there are better singers out there that can sing with emotion, Mariah...she can't. AND I LOVE MIMI...

yeah, since like late 90´s mariah became pretty bad live, the only thing she really has intact is the whistle notes (which are impressive, but gets boring after a while)....90-95, she was the best (tho whitney still gave her a match, and beat her in some areas, like the powerful clean chestvoice, and lara fabian also could be considered at least as good, thou she realy didn´t have mariah´s range).
if the question was as of today, i wouldn´t put mariah on the top spot, maybe top 10...i´d put both christina and beyonce over her....
and yeah, where´s robert plant and ANN WILSON?

That's the most ridiculous thing I've ever seen
According to you, Christina and Beyoncé can be over Mariah, but Mariah can't be over them? that doesn't make any sense...
Christina sucks singing live, since she OVERSINGS the WHOLE time...

did any of you guys consider mariah's age ? she is 37 now, and you cant not compare her with a 25-year old singer. At the age of mariah now christina would have retired even

i don't agree that Mariah is the worst singer of all time, there's surely much worse.
also, on the bad list i don't agree with Chris Martin, James Blunt, Dido, or Phil Collins being there.

She can't sing. Her voice is powerful, but it doesn't mean she can sing. Her songs are full of those unbearable whispers.

The age and the voice are two things apart. Your voice can get morepowerful when you get older, and vice versa.
