She also had a full week; Gaga did not, she had about a third of a week. Plus, Gaga's going to have - and indeed already has - hype, which will boost her total. Katy had hype, too, I might note, and she was coming off 6 top three hits from a significantly successful era. It's not like she just dropped a single out of the blue and sold 411k.
ARTPOP will erase any signs of Katy. Her stans do too much

She might. Sometimes keeping a low profile (à la Justin Timberlake) can do miracles! Lady Gaga is always about anticipation and hype, I was so disappointed with Born This Way, my god.
Oh and we can always say that Katy Perry is liked by the general public, Lady Gaga used to.
