I had to take a Business History course as a required course in my business program during my first year, and it was flat-out TORTURE. There were so many readings and so much specific information to memorize, and what made it unbearable is that all of it was so useless and impractical that it made it extremely difficult to retain.
We have to do anonymous course evaluations for all of our courses at the end of each semester, and I remember dragging this course to the pits in my evaluation.
