Sandy isn't a cyclone.

Hurricanes and cyclones are the same thing, except hurricanes are in the Atlantic/Caribbean Sea/Gulf of Mexico, while cyclones are in the Pacific/Indian Ocean.

They mean the same thing sis.. People in the US do call them Cyclones.. Usually NHC calls them Cyclones also.. But when saying it's name they use Hurricane..

All Hurricanes/Typhoons/Cyclones/Tropical Storms/etc. are tropical cyclones, they just have different names in different parts of the world.

tropical storm is actually different

At a certain level its a tropical storm but one it gets bigger, it becomes a Hurricane (and the other names)
