I kinda get it though....you can only release a certain number of singles, so why waste some sure-fire hits and make them as album tracks? Then again, she gave us the flaw free Breakaway and many of its album tracks would've easily smashed so...
Meanwhile, Stronger won the Grammy, filler or not.
Here for Kelly to have even better tracks on her next album and snatch the Grammy again. Hopefully they're more mature songs with stripped down flawless production.
Annnyways. After watching Avril's music video for Let Me Go. I am still pissed on how Already Gone music video was handled. Ugh could have been so damn epic.
That's fine. She's saying she had songs they ended up not using on Stronger b/c they were too good to be album tracks. She's not going to recycle tracks.
But you're all acting like Stronger had plenty of singles...
Single-worthy songs: Stronger, Dark Side, Let Me Down, Mr. Know It All and You Love Me were borderline.
Out of those only Stronger had smash written all over it.
Having 1 hit single on an album isn't a good thing guys. It's not a waste to have loads of single worthy songs on an album because you can just release them... Stronger era could have lasted longer that way, look at Teenage Dream for example.
I love how everyone loves to praise Breakaway in this Base, yet you don't want her to make another album of single-worthy songs/hits
Albums have a set budget and pretty set single release system before its even released. It's likely they told her there would only be 3 singles no matter what because of the GH plans. If she did have some really amazing songs, I'm ok with her holding them for the next album. I am forever pissed as we all are that Addicted and Gone didn't get the single treatment. I wouldn't want that to happen again with Stronger. I don't want filler either but I dont really believe there's that much filler on Stronger. There's solid album tracks there.
I wouldn't mind a track as vulnerable as I Wish I Could Be Lonely Instead. It's flawless.
And mess, I realize why I'm liking the WIR idea. It feels like her voice has more room to be free than with her own pop songs most of the time (Live ad-libbed performances / Breakaway era not withstanding).
You wouldn't even know any of the songs were three years old if Kelly didn't say so. It doesn't even mean they're already recorded and mastered. Maybe they're rough cuts that she loves and will still get mastered with a fresh sound. Shush till you hear it.
All I know is that I want a lead single that has the smash potential of WDKY but the longevity of Breakaway (the song). Then I want her to follow up with a song that is COMPLETELY different from the lead single to get that follow up #1.
Poor Kelly. She just can't win. Not even with her stans.
I would l have loved for Kelly to have an album of hits like Katy does. But remember Kelly doesn't always like those smash hits. She wants to make sure she gets those personal faves in.
Regardless, I'm excited to see where she goes with her pop sound next.

I honestly don't see Kelly getting another Hot 100 #1. Not with her abysmal streaming numbers and flop videos.

That is up to her and how she manages her videos in the upcoming eras. We know she obviously has it in her...it's just that whatever is in her is a lazy ass bottom.
In regards to her next album:
"We've had a few songs from the last album that we loved, but didn't want to go to waste and be album tracks..."
Wa-a-ait. That's interesting. I don't know if I get it right but it sounds to me like when she was releasing Stronger, she knew that in a year there would a GH album so the Stronger era wouldn't last long so she decided to not include some of the songs on the album because she knew that the era wouldn't be long and the tracks wouldn't be ever released as singles although they are single-worthy / surefire hits.
Isn't it a little too complex? But it does make sense to me. I doubt that she would release the same songs twice on a studio record. I know, we have those EPs but that's something else.
The only thing I'm worried about is that if the songs were written like 3 or 4 years ago, wouldn't their production be dated? But the production can be always changed, so why not.

'Didn't want to waste and BE album tracks' that means they never were album tracks, which means they aren't on stronger. If they were, them she would have already 'wasted' them.
She isn't recycling any songs.
Exactly what I think.

So instead of having good songs on the album she thought, we'll save the good ones to be singles next time and just chuck loads of filler on this album. That's still exploiting the fans.
And still Stronger won a Grammy for Best Pop Vocal Album. Although I wouldn't say there were tons of filler, rather songs that probably wouldn't do well commercially. On the other hand I think there were enough potential singles for them (Kelly and RCA) to choose from. Stronger, DS, LMD, IFY (however I don't like it), TWIO, they could also think of YLM and Honestly.

This unfortunately. But hopefully Kelly has some aces in her sleeve that can do without streams. And hopefully she will make some good music videos in the future, like NA, SUBG, BHTE, BOY. PLU was good, too bad that the song was a stupid 3rd single from a GH album that didn't get any promo...
