That's the point. None actually care about him, but it causes so much of a reaction for anyone resembling a celebrity to say they DON'T like him or his music.

You almost have to defer to pretending to like him because of the potential ire of the Hive.

That's why his supposed respect doesn't actually get sells or success in-line with all these people that supposed respect, praise, and worship him.
