Well, it's 2 different records.

- Most weeks at #1
- Most consecutive weeks at #1

Mariah holds both atm, but if Chainsmokers got 17+ non-consecutive weeks then she'd only hold the latter.

That's fine, but it's still a record and I've seen Billboard specify consecutive records numerous times in their articles, so if this scenario does happen I'm sure Billboard will specify it again. They make a distinction for consecutive records for the BB200 as well.

Even that Starships record that everybody went on about was a record for consecutive weeks in the top 10 iirc (and Shake It Off didn't break that record since it fell out of the top 10 at one point?). I might be remembering this all wrong, I don't know, but my point is it will still be a record, and Billboard almost certainly will mention it if Chainsmokers get 16+ weeks non-consecutively.

And Drake's record for most consecutive weeks on the Hot 100, vs. whoever has the record for overall most weeks on the Hot 100.

He's right though, that total weeks at #1 is realistically a more important record than most consecutive weeks at #1.

But also, on a forum where we follow the charts the way we do, we're obviously going to talk about records that most normal people won't care about.
