I think it was good cause usually artists have a moment when they let their creativity go out and do whatever they want even though it's not what people wants from them, like Madonna did with American Life and Beyoncé with 4. The difference is that still, Gaga's biggest "flop" is something that others could only dream of.

a successful worldwide tour =/= album sales. Look at MDNA for that case. Or even Beyonce's 4 (although this was far more successful). The article basically states that the lack of her ability to produce any major hits from Born This Way (compared to The Fame) could have hurt her brand a bit. I mean, I doubt she planned to end her era that quick with the self-proclaimed "album of the century"

And when ARTPOP is smashing later this year, I would bet a lot of money that Nicole will be back on the bandwagon, saying "I knew it." Outselling tours of an artist whos only popular in NA and an R&B singer whose success is extremely North American based is nothing to be proud of.

The hype and promo along with the high from TFM literally carried BTW. The problem with Gaga is that she went from being a cool and different popstar in 2009-2010 that teenagers loved and wanted to copy her style etc to a plain weirdo in 2011 that had stuff coming out of her face and people felt like they couldn't relate to her anymore. She needs to reel it in a bit. Btw I do like Gaga so don't think I'm hating (I'm not a stan though).

Lady Gaga has had the biggest decline ever witnessed by a pop star.

She should have released a fame type album after btw in order to stop the damage. This long break so early in her career wasn't a good move either.

BTW sold about 7M copies WW though
