But it is wrong to torture and slaughter animals for personal pleasure. Is that not completely obvious? I think it's you who shouldn't act like it's just a part of life and it's completely fine. Yes it's a personal life choice. It's a personal life choice to choose your appetite over animal welfare. Just because it's a personal life choice doesn't make it unselfish.
