oh no Rihanna.... you did not just slay me like that ... I agree she is lazy when it comes down to vocals... but this performance of love the way you lie is pretty flawless
I'm saying she can do all that she does vocally. I'm just judging their studio vocals because Rihanna is terrible live, most of the time, and Britney does it once in a blue moon (the "Don't Let Me Be The Last To Know" performances on the FF tour were good though).
Janet & Britney sings in their higher register, which fits their songs perfectly, and lip sync most of the times because they're dancer/performer (yes, even diminished Brit does much more on stage than Rih ).
But Britney's lower register is wonderful and Janet can do the abrasive vocal too (see "Black Cat", for example).
I'm not trying to insult Rihanna or anything, because, to each their own, but I find it highly ironical that one of her stans go and try to diminish the vocal talents of these two legends when people are constantly doing the same to Rih here. You should know better...

This isn't about who sings better anyways. It's about Rihanna slaying her B4. D
What video? Of her singing the B4 belt? As I said earlier on, it was decent enough but the rest of her performance wasn't. And B4 barely even qualifies as an upper chest belt - it would be more surprising and threadworthy if she couldn't do it.
Sorry but as schooled musician no one will ever make me believe Britney sings better than Rihanna. I still can't believe some of you think she does.
I have studied music myself, but anyway I wasn't saying that Britney is a better singer than her. Simply that "slaying" a B4 note' is hardly impressive. It's a belt that every singer in the world should be able to do, and if they can't then they need to find a new job.
What Rihanna can do with her voice is average at best. It's a rare sight not to see her go completely off-pitch at least a handful of times every performance, and the few examples of her staying in tune don't automatically make it an uh-mah-zung performance as people here are suggesting.
2:04-2:26 she did good on the bridge. Rihanna's problem is she's inconsistent vocally, it's very rare for her to get through a song and slay from start to finish. I hope for her sake she reall takes a break after this album and just spends months training her voice, cause she really does have potential but she just doesn't use it to the best of her ability.
