The Game
2010 has finally came to a close. What a year has it been? With monster hits and surprise smashes, this year was the year that went Urban. Big names like Rihanna, Trey Songz, and Usher graced Nano the all year long. Spring, Summer, Fall, and Winter. This year marks the first 12-month run of a Nano chart. Last year debut started in June-December, lasting 6 months before 2010 hit.
The Players
This Urban artists ruled. Rihanna is the Most Played Artist of 2010. Trey Songz is the Most Played Male Artist of 2010. Eminem is the Most Played Hip-Hop Artist of 2010. Alot of Hip-Hop and R&B music dominated. Only a few Pop Songs really made an impact on Nano including Katy Perry 'Teenage Dream' which landed the #6 spot on Nano Top 40 of 2010. Rihanna's pop tune 'Only Girl (In The World)' which landed the #4 spot on the same chart. Two more pop hits includes Bruno Mars 'Just The Way You Are' (#9) and Jason Derulo 'In My Head' (#8) claim top 10 spots.
The Surprises
This year brought many surprises. Songs that were destine for the #1 spot including B.o.B's 'Nothin On You' (#3) could not defeat the mass play of Rude Boy and Neighbors Know My Name. A time were overall playcount determined NanoTop20. Other surprise misses for #1 includes , Bruno Mars 'Just The Way You Are' (#2), Drake 'Find Your Love' (#2) and Nelly's 'Just A Dream' (#2).But new rules in 2011 will definitely shake up NanoTop20.
That Rihanna Reign
Winner of NanoAwards2010 Artist of the Year and most played artist of 2010, she landed two albums in the Top 10 Albums of 2010. She had the top 2 songs of 2010 'Love The Way You Lie' (#1) and 'Rude Boy' (#2). She had 5 #1 hits this year and blocked mutiple songs from hitting #1 with ' Only Girl' and 'What's My Name?' being unstoppable back to back #1. She became the most played overall artist in December.
Newcomers
Best New Artist winner B.o.B is the most played New Artist of 2010 with a Platinum album and 2 Top 3 Hits 'Airplanes and Nothin On You. Bruno Mars, Jason Derulo, and Nicki Minaj made huge impact on Nano this year. Nicki Minaj is the 3rd most played female of 2010. Behind Rihanna and Katy Perry.
