Following the release of 'TRIBE' Beverly's popularity rose to 4-5% everywhere and which was boosted to 8-11% in all markets with the release of singles 'TRIBE 101' and 'RIDIN STREET' & a few interviews and performances. The first few tour dates should help Beverly boost that number even more.
One month after the release of her debut buzz single 'Touching Myself', Jade is set to release its followup 'Super Models'. ATRL Records has shipped some physical copies around the world this time.
Talking to European radio station while promoting her newest buzz single 'Super Models', Jade echoed Madonna in saying that she wants to 'rule the world'. She also said she is a fan of Adele's '25' and pop phenomenon Ahni.
Up & Coming NYC Rapper Beverly Robinson surprise released a 9-tracks long mixtape titled TRIBE this february on ITunes which ended up shooting to #1 in the US even with it's low download numbers. The mixtape was received with mixed reactions from the Critics, who complained about the mastering feeling incomplete and rough and about how some of the tracks felt unfinished, but the potential is there, Beverly has it in her to become one of the most interesting rappers of the year. Check out her interview with Pitchfork just below. Why did you choose to do TRIBE?
Well it was jsut my message to the world, like an announcement that I was here and that I was here to stay. It really also gives a little bit more background about me and my life growing up in NYC. What did you think of the overall reception of the mixtape? It's mixed, you have people just loving it and others are saying that it was ok. Critics have been harsh about the mastering of the mixtape as well.
Well the mastering isn't actually some sort of mistake, I mean it's a mixtape. I wanted it to sound rough, I wanted it to sound raw and not just pure. It had to sound like that. If I was recording an album it would sound a lot different. Speaking of album, we've heard you're working with Kanye West on your debut!
Yes that's true actually and I'm really excited about that. Kanye is such a huge inspiration of mine. I had talked about him in the press before, praising him so I think he saw that and listened to my mixtape. Then he called me. So he must have liked it! I'm really happy about that. When is that album coming?
Well within the next... year? year and a half maybe? I'm not too sure. I will be giving fans a few songs and doing a lot of shows to make the wait easier. But it's really exciting.
