Beyonce has been out for twenty years...is there really a need to play anyone's game? Trust and believe me, I was a bit disappointed last era when she did not do any promotion. I felt that many of her singles could have been signature hits for her only if she followed the rules that everyone else plays by. I then realized that if I am a true fan, I will enjoy her music no matter where singles fall on the charts. Trust and believe me, I have been riding with Bey since DC. I am only a few months younger than her (turned 34 in January). She has had an amazing career, despite what a singles chart says. I am saying all this to say who cares at this point about single success? She is a LEGEND now, period.

I agree with everything you said but the best part of an era is the excitement of looking forward to tv performances whether they boost her sales or not. Just do it for the fans. Heck even perform album tracks. It's also the excitement of hearing her songs on the radio (urban stations don't have a big reach), it's the excitement of going out and hearing her songs and everyone getting their lives.

Pop never paid XO dust. It was getting HUGE updates on pop radio even during the x-mas freeze. 2M-3M updates on pop alone. We just have to accept that the song wasn't a strong pop single as we thought and the public didn't respond to the airplay + DrIL was taking over, so.... two diff situations.

she literally just performed at the Super Bowl and she's on a worldwide stadium tour. if you're dying to see her perform, buy a ticket. that's what I did.

and idk where you live but in NY I've heard Sorry and Formation on the radio a lot, so. and at the club everyone loses it when Formation comes on.

also during the self titled era she performed at the Grammy's twice, the BRIT awards, had a tour video of Partition literally CLOSE the BET Awards, and did a whole 20 minute medley of the album at the VMA's.

Beyoncé is not an artist that needs to go on every irrelevant award show for people to pay attention to her music.

Where's the thrill of an ERA? idec about sales but it shouldn't be too much to ask for a damn video on YouTube. It's a mess having to wonder if she'll perform at some award show or anywhere when the chances are like 5%. That's dumb.

Yeah, she can do all of these things now bc "she's Beyoncé" but sooner or later they will start affecting her. This "new album + tour + disappear + repeat" formula is not working for me as a fan. Keep it up and many will start drifting.

I agree with all this

The fact is despite Beyoncé's power she's not doing anything positive for herself by not putting the stuff on Vevo/Spotify/AM or properly doing promotion. Michael Jackson was a legend and still did this stuff properly. Like I get it, she's a mother and on a stadium tour but you can maintain a whole era these days just by putting videos on YouTube/streaming and it's that simple. There's absolutely no reason why they don't.. and she's clearly willing to do promo when it suits her because we've had the Super Bowl recently.

Being a legend doesn't mean dropping an album once every 2 and a half years and saying no more. I've always defended letting the music speak for itself and agreeing she's above singles etc but there's nothing to gain by avoiding it, only something to lose.
