YESSSSSSSSSS Kate Boy! Their album was so underrated tbh! And YESSSSSS too @ queen Carly, EasyFun, and Robyn! And Chelsea too! But "Iron Moon" is probably the heaviest track on 'Abyss'.
GOD, that beat. It's so faux aggressive that I can't help but live and die again and then live. Also I love the whole "hero" concept.... with a Super Mario sample. I see you Monsta X
what a Monsta b0p, never gets old
4minute & Say Lou Lou as well amazing list...as always.
Oh look, a K-Pop song that rips off DJ Mustard. I'm sure this isn't the first, but it's definitely the best. I mean, duh, we needed a grade school theme put to it. The spoken section after the first chorus is like, exactly what I need sometimes.
69. Psychic Reality - Bambini Art
Psychic Reality is one of those artists a lot of people I know love but I can never figure out why she's SO popular with them. BUT this is possibly an explanation. Lo-Fi Pop with an edge, and instead of giving the chorus the big hook, the verses are basically the same hook over and over. It sounds dangerous but it really works. As do her distorted vocals.
68. Tamaryn - Hands All Over Me
I've already put some of their songs in this countdown but none of them are as good as THIS. Like, omg, tons of songs this year were sexy but none of them give me this kind of blissful otherworldly feeling like this song. I compare them to the Cocteau Twins for obvious reasons a lot but this song sounds so different than them, it's probably cause it's more straightforward than most CT songs.
67. Le1f - Swirl
A song basically poking fun at the fetishization of black bodies. So Le1f, Ladosha, and Junglepussy fetishize white boys It's a really sexy song that's funny and brings up good points as a satire. Junglepussy goes the **** off! I think this is better than all verses on her (amazing) album.
66. f(x) - When I'm Alone
When two of my absolute 2015 faves combine bitch you KNOW I'm gonna stan! The most 80s song f(x) have done in like, ever! Plus, it's about masturbation (well the demo so I'm just gonna say this is about it too). It's a more subtle track. There are no breakdowns/production tricks/rap verses/etc that I usually love from f(x), just a REALLY good singalong hook.
Yes, I feel like people worship this song partly because of the video, but let's take a moment to praise some of the amazing stuff going on in the track. Pharrell's production is just like, WOAH! He still has it (after many people thinking he's lost it), those harmonies sound super ****ing dark. Kendrick of course, goes off, but his rapping style is literally switching every 10 seconds, and sometimes he even sounds like a different person. This is a complete mishmash of styles all in like 4 minutes. Kendrick says it's about positivity but honestly it feels more sarcastic and hopeless to me.
64. EXID - Ah Yeah
Exid release a song completely different than their debut single (?) Up & Down. This song is a more sexy song with a sax loop and with a sexy music video (a feminist one at that!). What really makes this song stick out to me is the switchup from detached sex freak on the verses to passionate vocalists on the chorus. Listen to this enough and you'll just be whispering "ah yeah... ah yeah.. ah yeah ah yeah ah yeah" all day long.
63. Miguel - The Valley
I'm sorry but when I look at miguel's face while hearing this song I kinda have to laugh He's not ugly but he's... really corny. Anyway, I'm not gonna deny that THIS is like, the ultimate sex bop. Kinda dark, VERY sexy. It's a total fantasy that works because he goes 110%.
62. Priest - Day Drinking
More apathetic synthpop goodness. I'm not sure why a song called Day Drinking sounds sad though (when I think of day drinking I picture mimosas and bellinis with friends so..), but anyway, I guess she's longing for her lover or whatever. I really don't care because it's all about the aesthetic and mood of the song that she definitely does VERY well.
61. Alaska Thunder**** - Hieeee
Alaska Thunder**** has a very entertaining voice. She knows this, and that's why this song works so well. She skips all the pretense of a "song" with a chorus and all that and just gives us a trashy electro beat with her talking for about 4 mins. It's what we all wanted.
